Brutal assault on Udon Thani schoolgirl triggers national outrage and cries for justice

A 13 year old schoolgirl was subjected to a brutal assault at a school in Udon Thani, instigated by jealous animosities over a schoolboy. The victim’s inconsolable mother and uncle, having seen a horrifying video clip of the incident on social media, pledged to seek justice to the fullest extent of the law.

The 44 year old mother of the victim, Lek, and the girl’s uncle, Cherdpong, yesterday filed a case against their child’s tormentors at Dong Yen Police Station. They were met by Police Lieutenant Jamlong Thabsikaew, the deputy inspector of Don Yen Police Station, who conducted the initial questioning and agreed to issue the medical examination letter for Ban Dung Hospital.

In the video footage of the assault, a girl can be seen repeatedly beating another girl in the face, using her elbow and knee, while the victim is seen pleading for mercy. The netizens who commented on the video in large numbers condemned the behaviour as savagely excessive. The father of the young perpetrator offered an apology, stating that he was disappointed by his daughter’s conduct, and explained that she had behavioural problems and was disobedient. He also pleaded for the matter not to be pursued legally, reported KhaoSod.

You must not have seen much in school especially high school.

If you think 2 guys fighting is dangerous then you have never seen a cat fight.  The old adage of a womean scorned is more true.  Girls whenthey fight use everything fingernails teeth fists feet.  They will not stop until over powered and that is not by 1 or 2 people or they runout of energy.

My questions that would be interesting is where did the fight happen.  If it was onschool property then why did the school not kow about it.

Second questoin is where were her friends

If the mother didnot know anything how did she hide the damages inflicted and what did she tell her mother?

All this smiling and welcoming..........in some cases genuine, but in the main, I feel very false.

Good manners..........very rare here in my opinion.

But better than England...........or.......what used to be England......so I will fight it out here.

There is huge anger, resentment and violence just below the surface in this country. A lack of discipline and self control combined with low intelligence can be a lethal mix, especially when it is combined with the ready availability of guns. But you have to live here to be aware of it, Tourists come for two weeks and love the place, most of the time. They rarely if ever see the darkness underneath.

I'm yet again confused by a story here, is that trying to say the cops examined her first?

I think that part of your comment could be true anywhere, until you live somewhere then you find out the true reality of where you are living.

Can't say for sure... but I'm guessing it means the police will write to the hospital requesting the medical records for the victim.

Or, if the victim hasn't already been examined there, perhaps it's a formal police request for the hospital to conduct an examination of the extent of the girl's injuries.

Sam Spade addressed this brilliantly in an episode from the 1940's, while speaking with his secretary Effy.

Effy: "Sam, why is the world so cruel?"

Sam: "Because people live in it Effy."

Have the school already talked to the perp and offered to reserve a position on the teaching roster for when she's 18?

Your post hits the mark bang on!

There are two Thailands and it's not rich and poor, it's the face for tourism and the real Thailand.

The underbelly, just below the surface, that explodes at any time without rhyme nor reason.

An all too common occurrence these days and they do it in gory detail at road accidents too.

Why not tar every Thai with the same brush? Oh. I see you have.

Of course, we should also remember violence is unique to Thailand.

You must create your own life and safe haven and be happy in it. I have done.

Ignore and avoid the idiots on the other side of my house walls.

Never let them know your plans, your thinking or your opinions as they simply twist them, reverse them, and try to use them against you.

It definitely appears to happen more in upcountry or rural areas than the major cities

The fathers comments explain the problem!

It's called ' parenting ' which they don't seem to have got the hang of.

Unfortunately as you failed in  your duties as a father you cannot expect others to turn a blind eye to your daughters behaviour.

She should be taught that what she did was unacceptable.

A lesson that you should have given all her life, but did not.

I must live on an island of peace and friendliness then, it would appear that life in an Isaan village in the countryside is to be preferred over a big city. Never had problems nor seen any fights, I get greeted wherever I go and people seem to go the extra mile to help each other out, so I must disagree.

Pathetic comment...

Laws need to be implemented with counseling and jail time (minimal) because slap on the wrist is not working.
