The Bangkok River Level Thread 2024 - Post your images and local situation here.
If it is of any help, the Pasak dam in Lopburi was built, for irrigation for locale farmers, and help with the flooding of Bangkok and Ayutthaya ,the Pasak river comes downs from Pechabun ,200 km from the dam. The Pasak River flows in the Chow paya river at Bang Par Inn, in Ayutthaya province, that has been the problem, you have two rivers, almost full all flowing in too Bangkok. Now back to the Pasak dam ,on my door step ,was they last week ,now about 86% full ,normal now it is full ,and they open the dam gates and let the water go ,so thay say to stop flooding around the dam, now the gates are barely open not a lot of water is flowing (not good fishing year),so less water is flowing in to the Pasak and Chow Paya rivers les coming down to you. But, Thai TV was up at Charnat province a few days ago the big dam they is about full, some water will have to be let go, that will be coming your way. But here in Lopburi the felling that the rainy season is done for this year, bar the odd few days of rain,i.e. 64 mm of rain last weekend. -

Expats in Pattaya nasty ?
Yes some are nasty (or just straight out weird) I was in a popular bar last week where strangers often share the same table as no room. I was on my phone checking emails and messages and this guy who just sat down opposite me had a very loud go at me for being on my phone! It was a sarcastic swipe about phones but I swear it was like my best friend was just offended by how rude I was for being on my phone instead of talking to him! I just stared at him in amazement then shook my head and went back to my phone without saying a word. Pissed him off even more 😆 (Note I was not on youtube or FaceTime or a call, this was silent reading of my phone) -

Mealy bug problem
Very true. Stressed plants, whether from heat, soil, or other issues , are vulnerable. They are very effective though. I just went through an outbreak from heat stress and after 4 weeks of soaping all surfaces at night without real progress, 3 rounds of lady bugs did the trick. It’s cooler now so the stress is over and they have not returned. -

Foreigner Wrecks Chiang Mai Stall After Smoking Ban Warning
If you don’t like the Thais you really should pack your bags and leave to some country where you do like the people. Nobody will miss you. Could I recommend Spain? -

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I concede it can seem like you are going around in circles ... but I think if you stick with it you will succeed. My experience in different countries around the world when dealing with bureaucracy is that there can be 'hidden reasons for the delays'. If I had to guess I would say the individual who is handling/screening your case at BoI ran into issues in the past with another applicant, that has irritated that BoI individual screener's boss ... where the boss is pushing his employee to get more info than normal ... and you being the 'low man on the totem pole' here means it all ends on your lap. I went the $100K US equivalent in the Bank route for self health insurance instead of using my European Cigna (as their paperwork about coverage are simply too massive for BoI to find the very precise information they want to see) and this took me some time to prove (as some of my accounts were not accepted as it was possible to trade equities with them). What some have done is asked their Health Insurance company to write a letter saying one has a health insurance contract with $50K US coverage that expires on such and such a date (or maybe it is open ended with no expiry date). I did not go that route so I do not know the exact wording in the letter (from insurance company) that was acceptable to BoI. But when I go for my 5-year re-proof, I think I will try the 'letter' from the Insurance company approach. I took me ~5 months to have my LTR approved, but I succeeded in the end. Perhaps part of that long duration was my fault, as I only fed BoI the bare minimum for financial proof (as I didn't want to share the entire scope of my finances with them) and maybe that complicated things. Good luck ! -
