I believe next May is when the senates tenure is expiring..
We will see what happens before that comes if any shenanigans are at play.

After May they lose the right to select the PM but they remain until replaced.

Some one up on the law can stipulate what happens if a bill is introduced replacing the senators with elected ones. Can the existing senators vote post May to deny that?

The Provisional Charted state that “ upon expiration of the term of the Senate, the proceedings for the selection of new senators shall be taken and the senators under the Transitory provision shall remain in office to perform duties until there are new senators”.

Considering the length of time to debate charter amendments in both houses and should the amendments passed, it will still take considerable time to re-draft the amendment and hold election for the senators. The appointed senators will be around for longer than we want them to be unfortunately.

10.65%for Pheu Thai, 7.52% for Palang Pracharath, 7.14% for United Thai Nation and 4.50% for the Democrat party.

At this point, the two uncles parties are more popular than PTP. Quite an achievement for a newly elected PM and his party.

Why the low numbers?....Because everyone knows the new boss is the same as the old boss....

So the Pheu Thai party’ is really only a shadow of what it was in the old days.....

.....and this cycled stratagem has been ongoing for decades.

The old adage holds true: the more things change the more they stay the same.

With or without the rhetorically-based analysis and reasoning.

Trickery is too easy.

Opposition is the the best place for MFP to be right now.

Next election will be a landslide victory.  PT sold out on their mandate and they have lost it forever.

Over the coming months expect all effort being focused upon disbanding MFP....it is the only hope any other party has.

Really? You think? I'd bet my last dollar both UTN and PPR will demand the senates ternure is extended for another XX number of years, or they may remove their support of PT in this coalition- Without the senate there is no back stop from preventing MFP having there own PM and amending 112 in any future elections. I suspect the sentators are here to stay.

They may well replace individuals, after all with 1700 Generals, Admirals and Air Force whatevers, plus all the top Rozzers in Central Casting, it can't be too difficult to find 250 suitable candidates retiring every 5 years! What to look out for is a renewal ( or perhaps even an extension) of the Senate's powers - that is probably factored in to whatever deal they cooked up with Pheu Thai to get Thaksin back.

We are moving into 'Whac-A-Mole" times. They will keep trying to destroy MFP and its reincarnations, but new ones will continue to pop up and the old git parties are running out of voters to back them. I'd estimate that less than 25% of the population genuinely support this government coalition.
