Popular Post snoop1130 Posted September 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 14, 2023 The Constitutional Court has dismissed a petition, demanding the dissolution of the Move Forward, Prachachat and Fair parties on charges of separatism and attempting to overthrow the democratic system through amendments to the Constitution. The petition was filed by Natthaporn Toprayoon, a lawyer and former advisor to the ombudsman, accusing the three parties of seeking to amend Chapter 1 of the Constitution, regarding the kingdom of Thailand, and Chapter 2, regarding the monarchy. He also accused the three parties of associating themselves with individuals or groups advocating for self-determination in the country’s three restive southern provinces. The court ruled that there is no factual evidence or otherwise to prove that the three parties were involved in separatist activities, or activities deemed as an attempt to overthrow the democratic system. Popular Post Encid Posted September 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 14, 2023 Natthaporn Toprayoon is a hardline yellow shirt headline/attention seeker who also tried (and failed) back in January 2020 when he got the Constitutional Court to hear charges of the opposition Future Forward Party (FFP) and its leader, Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, of conspiring to overthrow the monarchy. Natthaporn also said at the time that the FFP party’s logo, an orange inverted triangle, "looks eerily similar to the symbol associated with the Illuminati, a secret society that conspiracy theorists believe seeks world control, and that the resemblance meant the two were probably linked." However the Constitutional Court acquitted the Future Forward Party (FFP) and Thanathorn, citing a lack of evidence. Natthaporn was also behind the allegations that the actions of three protest leaders at a rally at Thammasat University in August 2020 were an attempt to overthrow the constitutional monarchy. Based on Natthaporn's petition stating that they violated section 49 of the Constitution the Constitutional Court ruled that the protestors had "covert intentions to exercise their rights and liberties to undermine and overthrow the democratic regime with The King as head of state". 5 1 3

Popular Post SABloke Posted September 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 14, 2023 All theatre. This is the headline we would've read in the event of Pita being elected PM: "Court Dissolves Move Forward Party" - the CC can now "appear" to be impartial ???? 4 3 1

Popular Post dinsdale Posted September 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 14, 2023 The CC has been directed to dismiss. The alternative would be massive street protests which would put PT at risk. Another coup and PT are finished. I expect if the nxt election is free and fair ???? PT will be gone anyway. ".... deemed as an attempt to overthrow the democratic system." The lack of a democratic system is why MFP are not in government. 3 2 1

Popular Post spidermike007 Posted September 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 14, 2023 Please you honor. We don't like these pesky young ones. They are trying to move the nation forward, they want change and they stand for progress and reform. We can't have that. We must hold the nation back. We must keep everything the same. We must remain regressive. 2 1 4

bamnutsak Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Too soon. Would be a bad look now. Put a pin in this one, which will be re-visited. MFP will eventually be knee-capped or decapitated as retribution for even suggesting certain reforms. Some things cannot be forgiven or forgotten. Some have a long memory. 2
Popular Post Bim Smith Posted September 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 15, 2023 The CIA front the national endowment for democracy run by war mongering Neo Cons are funding anti china movements all around countries bordering China in South East Asia and Move forward was one of them. Notice during the election all you mostly saw were banners and adverts promoting this party and none few for the others. The US thirst for war wants proxy governments doing their dirty work against China just like they are doing in Ukraine. Thankfully Thailand were more than aware denying this shill party power. Thailand doesn't want it's children dying in a war on behalf of the United States. 1 1 1 3

Mansion = small single-rooms in an apartment block; resort = often small huts beside major roads available for short-time rental; mafia = small-time crooks; hotel suites = often a room like any other (a manager told me suite is just a name, not a description). I'm sure there are many more, all reflecting a false image if grandeur. 1 1

What constitutes "attempting to overthrow the democratic system" is the unbridled use law-fare in an attempt to destroy opponent parties and candidates. And the use of law-fare is no longer the bastion of third-world, developing countries and "backwater banana republics" as it is now fully embraced in so-call "developed countries" which are regressing back to their less democratic roots and are beginning to mirror the average banana republic in their twisting of the legal system to get rid of their viscerally-hated political rivals. 1

How odd. I find it interesting. On more than one occasion I've been in an adjacent room as my wife watches TV. "KWAI!," resounds from room. Minutes later, "KWAI!" I go through the room to get a cup of coffee. "Who are you calling a buffalo dear." "Srettha on TV," and then she goes into a litany of the ways the new PM is seeking to screw that average Thai citizen. "He do," this and "He do," that and on and on.... "So you're voting Move Forward whenever you can," as I move toward the kitchen door. Her head shakes up and down. <pours a cup of coffee> "KWAI," from the next room. From what I can ascertain, it seems the currently elected parties who put Srettha in the top spot are sorta of reneging on their campaign promises. Which bodes well for Move Forward in future elections. People like my wife and son are not happy.

Banana Republic Democracy Offer citizens large sums of money directly out of the State treasury for their vote. Offer citizens small but significant amounts of money outside the polling stations on election day. Attempt to use the courts to disqualify candidates and disband their parties. Promise the citizens the moon and once in office, renege on the promises with mealy-mouthed excuses.
crazykopite Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Democracy is an unknown word in Thailand the election has been stolen from the rightful winners and the voters are very angry come the next election those who betrayed the people will be history 1

In fact his incompetence may be worse for country that military rule. Maybe that's why he was chosen by the powers-that-be, easily influenced and can take the fall when failure happens. 1

It's beginning to look like Thai politics will become interesting again. Over the last nine years Thai politics became utterly boring, which was what Prayut and a lot of people wanted. I absolutely do not want to go back to the Red Shirts and Yellow Shirts rioting in the streets, but it will be good to see the backbiting and betrayals in Parliament again. And some colorful political actors, too.
