Tragic Choking Incident Claims Life of Young Boy in Bangkok
Picture courtesy of KhaoSod A heartbreaking incident in Bangkok's Rat Burana district has claimed the life of a five-year-old boy from Myanmar, who tragically choked on food in the early hours of April 8. Responding promptly, police and medical personnel from Siriraj Hospital arrived at the scene to find the boy, weighing over 50 kilograms, lying near the entrance of his home, exhibiting signs of asphyxiation. The child's father, Somilay, revealed that his son had experienced breathing difficulties earlier, having consumed steamed Thai sausage, boiled eggs, and milk prior to the incident. It remains unclear if the boy had also eaten dragon fruit, which was found in the refrigerator nearby. Neighbour Patcharee, who witnessed the boy's distress, had seen him restless around 8pm. She assumed he was experiencing a relapse from prior hospitalisation and urged him to stay upright. Patcharee recalled the boy's calm yet fluctuating condition, aware of his recent health concerns such as asthma and fluid in the lungs. Upon the arrival of the rescue team, the boy had lost consciousness. CPR efforts led to the expulsion of large pieces of dragon fruit and milk, indicating a possible airway obstruction. Despite valiant attempts to revive him, the boy's life could not be saved. The tragic event left his parents and the community heartbroken, highlighted by volunteers also visibly moved by the incident. It stands as a solemn reminder of the importance of vigilant supervision during children's meals. The boy's body has been sent to Siriraj Hospital's forensic department for examination, with family awaiting the completion of this process before commencing religious rites. This loss underscores the need for increased awareness and preventive measures to avert such tragedies in the future, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-04-08 -

Electrical wire question for my land
Translation "usually" => "always". Place a weatherproof outlet right next to where your pump is going, and don't forget to use service-unions and leave loads of straight "adjustment length" on your pipes to the pump. -

Trump tells Americans ‘it won’t be easy’
A couple AN members know me personally, and nobody calling me out for BS. Even a good friend met in Udon Thani, another NWA retiree, but a mechanic, and did the 40+ year, one job, NWA, and their pension was $100 a month per year of service. So he gets at least $4000 a month pension, and max'd out on Soc Sec, so probably another $4000 a month for that. That's a nice retirement income. We all got together for monthly meet up, so a member or 2 on here, know me personally. Unlike most anonymous keyboard warriors. I'm an open book, as fear nothing. Posting photos, vids of self, even maps to our house. Not anonymous at all, except legal name. Not here to make friends or impress anyone. But if someone asks me a question, I answer, if not too invasion. Called being social, after all, this is a social forum. Unlike many, I have nothing to hide -

What China could do next as Trump's tariff war ramps-up
What's the probable total tariff slap on Chinese goods if Trump's latest 50% increase goes through? 34% announced last week, 20% announced at the start of US President Donald Trump's term, and some additional tariffs left over from his first term in office. Total tariffs of over 100%, some as high as 120%. Wow! So what retaliatory measures will China be considering? 1. Further export controls on rare earth minerals, China controls a large proportion of the world's supply, but the US would probably find alternatives over time. 2. Increase tariffs on agricultural goods, this would significantly hurt US farmers, one of Trump's voter base. China consumes 14% of all US agricultural exports. 3. Target high-profile American companies such as Apple and Tesla, but this could cause adverse reactions at a time when China is trying to attract more foreign investment. 4. Xinhua, China's state news agency, speculated that China could cease all cooperation with the US on the war against fentanyl. 5 Ask the Chinese public to boycott all American products. Anyone got any other ideas? What China could do next as Trump's tariff war ramps-up
