Pita: Move Forward Aiming For 300 Seats In Next General Election

MOVE FORWARD’S former leader Pita Limjaroenrat who now is advisory chairman to new party leader Chaithawat Tulathon gave a rousing speech to the rank and file this evening (Sep. 24) where he set a goal of getting 300 MP seats in the next general election, Amarin TV said.

 

The large crowd of Move Forward Party members who had gathered at a stadium within  Thai-Japanese Bangkok Youth Centre in Din Daeng, were also urged to love Chaithawat as much as they did him.

 

“Throughout the three years and 185 days of our journey, which I will never forget, I am proud  of what we achieved everyday.

 

“What we did together is light a fire in the wind, starting a fire when it’s windy can be difficult, but together we succeeded, don’t let it go out completely.

Will all depend on the "on the job learning" ability of the rookie PM. Greed within the ruling alliance will play a  role too.

 

And at the end of the day a 300 seats win by MFP would trigger an immediate take over by the Army. And back to square one.

There has been a view (since May) that the time for military coups has passed, a younger generation simply won't put up with the b/s any longer etc etc.

 

We shall see but - for our own (powerless) sakes & mental health - we should remain optimistic.

750 members of parliment.  300 is too low of a goal.

no doubt they will get a majority again. However many of their top people have been banned because of legal issues. They have time before the next election to be more prepared and get all their ducks in a row.

Somehow I doubt this. MF will lose momentum in the next 4 or 5 years. If they represent a danger in gaining 300 seats they will have all sorts of dirt heaped upon them in the next 4 or 5 years, not to mention all sorts of phoney scandals and law fare from the CC et al.

As long as there are soldiers around in Thai "politics" there will never be any need for a general election, The ordinary Thai persons vote will not mean a thing.

Plausible target.

 

It would be expected that the Pheu Thai vote will be significantly reduced by the time of the next election as they have committed the same sin as the Democrats did under Abhisit - betrayed their core supporters in return for power.

 

Ultimately, it will be the economic situation at the time of the next election that will determine whether or not enough Thais vote for revolutionary change under Move Forward.

The Senate's mandate expire next year. Pita "only" needs 251 seats ???? to run the show.
