Announced earlier this week, Lalisa Lisa Manoban, a member of the globally renowned K-Pop group Blackpink, is set to receive a prestigious cultural ambassador leader award from Thailand’s Culture Ministry.

The celebrated singer, who hails from Buriram, has been recognised for her significant contributions to promoting Thai culture on an international stage.

A grand and formal ceremony is on the horizon, set to grace the hallowed halls of the Thailand Cultural Centre next Tuesday. It is on this auspicious occasion that the 26 year old, an international sensation, will be bestowed with the prestigious Wattanakunathorn Award.

This event is not just any ordinary celebration, it synchronizes with the founding day of the Culture Ministry itself.

Another Thai marketing strategy... working off the back of someone else's hard work

A Thai sensation they say?

Funny how she went to South Korea, worked hard, got noticed joined a famous agency, became a member of a girl band who took the nation and then the world by storm.

She has virtually no interest in being a anywhere near Thailand let alone her beloved Buriram.

Not a lot of local culture in that picture.

Lisa looks like a kind and simple and modest girl who would give you the shirt off her back....lol............

The award, in essence, showcases the use of taxpayer money and length the government will go through to publicly piggyback on someone else's achievements in order to score points with certain demographics.

I had no idea that dancing like a stripper (not that strippers aren't ok), but the difference is this lass does it in front of literally millions of people, many of them minors, in extremely suggestive sexual ways was anything to be given an award for.

Now its time for me to flagellate myself with my hip before a statue of the Madonna for my naughty thoughts lol ????

Considering many of the minor's mums are probably working in a bar of some sort, that point is probably irrelevant !

While the same country bans women from temple compounds or attract massive negative comments when wearing such a dress in the month of Songkran festivities  .........

I do not have a problem but two-tier thinking remains, me thinks ????

The only Thai culture she has promoted are those meat balls at Buri Ram train station. K pop has nothing to do with it.

Noi gave me a local culture that took 6 weeks of antibiotics to clear up and didn't receive an award.

She was in the news yesterday for doing a show in Paris with a load of topless female dancers.

That Thai culture?
