No more backbone than Trudeau when dealing with the Chinese over dodgy behaviour on their  part.  So little backbone that Trudeau had to suffer the public humiliation of being reprimanded in public by Comrade Xi.

Who is Trudeau???

Thailand has no known enemies

The Thai military has been battling an insurgency that has seen more than 7000 killed since 2004.

Sign your son up for the army and tell him to request a transfer to the Southern provinces.

Was the sub that got caught up in its own sub-net named the Phoenix  ????

No. I think it was named 'Three Geese Flying East'????

As regards the Thai sub under construction, until it is agreed what engine will be installed the pressure hull cannot be completed. As far as I know, large units have to be installed prior to pressure hull closure due to lack of access once completed. The completion date, sea trials and acceptance are out of sight in the future.

The subs will make a nice addition to the naval museum, once they realize that they are too expensive to maintain, they break down often, and they are too difficult for the inexperienced captains to pilot.

But even once in the "museum" at Chuksamet, us farangs will not be allowed to visit. i.e as with the Spanish built aircraft carrier -  HTMS Chakri Naruebet

Unsubstantiated rumour treated as fact? Even the Taiwan defence ministry refuted it.

In 2022, Xi was rumoured to be under house arrest when he was not seen for a few weeks after returning home from overseas.

This year, Xi was rumoured to have suffered an aneurysm after he was reported to be skipping the G20 summit.

But some people just love these anti-China rumours.

Fighting the Southern insurgency requires submarines?

Can one blame them? China is not exactly wearing their power with grace and dignity. They are a major bully.

No Engine in their Thai sub so to propel it around the Thai crew will use pedal power.

Initially they requested holes thru' the hull so they could fit galley oars but decided against it as rain could get in during the wet session.

But jokes aside, seems they have requested the leading engineers in the country to look at modifying tuk-tuk engines for submarine use, this is following a lengthy report that water-proof power extension leads weren't viable for electric motor propulsion.

China is a major bully? Then the US is considered as what? A hyper-bully?

The rest of the world has suffered terribly from bullying by Western powers for the past few centuries until today.

Ever since the founding of the PRC, China has shown to the US, the UK, the Soviet Union and India that it cannot be pushed around any more. Other countries were not so lucky, including even a big power like Russia, which failed to stop the expansion of NATO.

Spreading rumours is a form of bullying, didn't you learn that in school?

If you consider the absolute take over of the entire South China Sea, and the claiming it as it's own to be noble and righteous behevior, I have a bridge I can offer you a very good deal on.

Yes, tell that to the ROC.

The government that first made the South China Sea claims was not the People's Republic of China. It was the Republic of China (aka Taiwan) that first made that claim back in 1947 (before the founding of the PRC), with the blessing of the United States. In 1946, the ROC had sent warships which were given by the US to occupy the Spratlys and Paracels islands. Some of the islands were named after the ROC warships that were sent there.

Here's one of the warship:

USS Decker aka ROCS Tai Ping

Quote

On 28 August 1945, she was leased to the Republic of China. Decker was returned from Lend-Lease and transferred permanently to China on 7 February 1948 and renamed ROCS Tai Ping (F-22; Chinese: 太平). ROCS Tai-ping was one of the four warships sent by the Republic of China Navy on 6 November 1946 to claim islands within the South China Sea region. On 12 December 1946 Tai Ping arrived at Itu Aba island, becoming the first Chinese government ship ever to visit the Spratly Islands. (An American force had landed on Itu Aba in November 1945 and discovered that the wartime Japanese garrison had departed. A French warship, the FR Chevreuil had landed a team on Itu Aba in October 1946, two months before the Tai-ping arrived.)[1] The Chinese government gave Itu Aba the Chinese name of Taiping Island in honour of the ship.

How do you equate a bad decision by Taiwan to claim these islands, with the CCP claiming the entire South China Sea? It would be like the US claiming the entire Caribbean. It is a toxic, heinous, ugly overreach by a nation that is abusing the power they now have.
