Surgeon, Hospital for Inguinal Hernia Laparoscopy

Featured Replies

Hi! I am in need of having 2 inguinal hernias (bilateral) fixed. I've never had surgery before and I prefer the non-invasive laparoscopy. I thought my insurance was going to cover it but now they say they don't want to because they want to consider it 'pre-existing' (which is not true). Anyway! I've visited 3 hospitals: St. Louis Hospital, Bumrungrad and Bangkok Hospital and I've met the following surgeons and was quoted the following prices:

St. Louis Hospital: Dr. Narongsak Jongsiri; 220,000 baht
Bangkok Hospital: Dr. Suthep Udomsawaengsup; 450,000 baht
Bumrungrad; Dr. Poochong Timratana, or Dr. Angkoon Anuwong; 320,000 baht

I know Sheryl has said her nephew got this surgery done by Dr. Narongsak and everything was great and lasting - is that correct, Sheryl?

Otherwise, I'm having difficulty deciding between all of these. Dr Suthep seems very experienced and at least one person told me he received a great result from him. He says he does 4-5 laparoscopies/week (maybe hernia ones) while Narongsak does about 1/month. Can anyone else offer any input? Who would you go with?

Yes. And I have referred others to him, all with good results.

Maybe 10 over the years. Not just for hernias, also for laparoscopic choleycystectomy etc.

He is a good surgron and sldo s nuce perdon.

St. Louis is a no-frills hospital without the luxury hotel trappings of Bumrungrad etc. Nursing care IMO is better.
