Have you made up your mind about who is right and who is wrong? Or are you ready to admit that often it's not so easy.

Some of us, including myself, just don't understand how intelligent people would support a maniac like him.

In my previous post I point out that he is a symbol that is supported, not so much as a man.

If anything is to blame for his support, it is IMO the Washington establishment that has so alienated large portions of the populace that they will vote for such a man.

Only a maniac with a lot of money could even hope to oppose the Washington "elites" ( in their dreams they are "elite" ), so he became the hope of millions, even if he was unable to destroy the beast. The Dark Side is strong.

I'm curious? Did Trump affect your life personally? Did he make things worse in the lives of most Americans? Did he start wars and send boys off to come back in body bags? Did he increase or decrease

I don't know about where you live, but PC has affected every aspect of life where I live(d) for the worse.

Someone might have things you like and don't like but weigh up and compare same with same. e.g. not hard to see Trump's weaknesses significantly outweigh any perceived strengths.

Not sure I agree with that.

Trump's negatives are:

he's bombastic, loudmouthed, narcissistic, acts without thinking it through, insulting, his organisation skills seems lacking, etc

Positives: ( based on his presidency )

He didn't start any wars

he tried to stop illegal immigration on the southern border

he didn't start any wars

he tried to get NATO countries to pay what they were supposed to

he didn't start any wars

he initiated the withdrawal from Afghanistan, which was about 20 years overdue

he didn't start any wars

he tried to be friendly in foreign relations instead of threatening destruction on them

he didn't start any wars

he didn't start any wars

etc

Wouldn't say Biden has started wars. Putin did. Hamas did and Israel has played a hand depending on your opinion. Biden trying to deal with difficult situations in a fair way with mixed success. I think Biden has been clearly much better at building bonds with our allies. Trump asking for a bit more funds from NATO was probably fair. I am perplexed sometimes about how the United States deals with immigration too. I think secretly both parties like the cheap labour.

I could wax lyrical about Trumps range of shortcomings, and bore everyone to tears as it has all been said, but for me the 2 elephants in the room are his lack of respect for democracy e.g. election denial, sucking up to dictators, and his clear general lack of understanding and knowledge on how things actually work in government and world affairs. The latter has been documented time and time again by those who worked with him.

Given IMO most of our problems have been caused by governments I'm not a fan of career politicians and especially not of bureaucrats ( that ruined my life ).

As I don't think we have real democracy, I was quite supportive of him disrespecting the version we have.

If he actually understood how "it" works, he'd have been just another waste of space politician. The whole point was that he wasn't a part of the establishment, didn't know how it worked, didn't care how it worked, and did what he could to poke a stick in Washington's eye.

It is a shame that he couldn't accept losing though.

It's been so well documented because he allowed pretty free access to journalists, unlike the present incumbent that doesn't even want to have a press conference where journalists can ask questions.

He may not have had an opportunity to start his own, but hasn't he supported every war the US started in his very long political career?

He is certainly right up there with netanyahu, and how many billion US taxpayer $ has he thrown at Ukraine?

Never mind, if Iran gets too stroppy he may have an opportunity to use those 2 super carriers he sent over there.

Please don't let this thread become another one only about US politics. Thanks.

Keeping up with the pace of progression.

What was right and believed in the past is now dismissed in the present.

That i feel comes with the change shuffling work force sectors to accomodate the growing population.

For instance why have 100 policemen when you can have 10 and 500 insurance workers.

The insurance workers then need security networks and snowballs on.

Not to say it didn't happen in the past, just at a slower pace.

I already see consultants to large corporate companies using AI to write all their presentations which is scary and heading in a different direction again.

So i would say i know the past(well what i believe to be correct) and i don't know the present as semi retired the only education i keep up with is internet based and not always the best.

Yes,not so easy to be right.

Looks like Biden may be able to after all with all the attacks on American bases in Iraq and other M E countries.

Sigh, here we go again!

To enjoy my life here in Thailand, I avoid politics and religion.

Life is soo much better without endless arguments.

And in the end, it really doesn't matter. I as one person only, can't change peoples often very strong opinion, waste of oxygen.

Life is short, live and enjoy every day.

Some people just think whatever they are told to think.  That’s how they survive.  Follow the rules, believe whatever the mainstream media says, and that’s that. They don’t think for themselves.

Personally, I try to keep an open mind about everything.  That’s not always easy, but I try.
