And I was banned many times.  I thought if they don't want me then they don't want me. Their problem, not my problem.

I'm surprised to hear that you were banned.

I see a lot of outrageous posts on here but I don't remember you posting anything too offensive or crazy.

 

A lot of times I just post to mess with people, (hard to believe I know) and I haven't been banned yet.

I suppose my day will come.

The first one or two times I was banned for responding in not a very nice way to not so nice posts. I learned from that. I ignore those people or, if they are really personal attacks, then I report them.

 

Sometimes I write something and then I think that might get me into trouble with the admins and I don't publish it.

But sometimes I find a "you have been banned" message in my inbox and I think "what is that about?" And then I find out that I was banned for something trivial which I never thought could possibly upset anyone. In some cases, I am pretty sure the only person who was upset was some admin... 

 

But obviously I would never criticize the admins here. 😉

I forgot the password for old email account and couldn’t access to retrieve password reset, so I just reincarnated

Yeah, I don't see the big deal. This all mainly fun anyway.

Just to clarify, you were not "banned" if you were you wouldnt be here as that ID, "banned" is permanent. What some have experienced for various reasons is a "suspension" for a short period of time.

Happens very very rarely, but it does happen but usually after a high number of warnings or suspensions never just one or two. Most common is member is told they are on thin ice for excessive warnings, then, rather than get booted they reincarnate.

The clear notifications tab helped me keep out of trouble, but it disappeared after the maintenance. Now I will see if people have quoted a post.

 

I would love a delete function to be able to delete old or new messages, like on Quora. There's also no edit time limit - which would be a great idea on here.

I often think about banishing myself after reading some of the garbage that I encounter on here!

The danger with edit if not timed, is that people will go back and edit a post and thereby remove context and meaning of many of the following replies. Or, change it completely and claim "I never said that" .

It is a while since I have had one......but I recall the word "banned" being used for what was, say, a 3 day suspension. I could be wrong - maybe I will test it out this week as there are some idiots posting at the moment...🙂

Hundreds.....everytime I get pissed up, my inner bigot comes out in my comments and I get banned.

Suspension is not a ban, if you get 10 suspensions of increasing length then your user name is banned and you cannot post any more. I'm saying nowt 😃

It would have pros and cons. It could also reduce the heat on a thread when people have said things they might like to delete. I think the pros would win. Better for someone to say "never said that" than end up defending himself if baited. Perhaps a longer edit window would be a good compromise.
