Totally agree! It has been highjacked by a hard core of approx. 12 idiots/Bots/paid for posters who may be increasing the "click count" but are ruining the site!

  • The fun has been lost.   We used to have fun posts about sightings of Michelin men and Mountain Dew and the like.   Now almost every post degrades into pages of off topic bickering

I know for a fact she was real and the ladies forum has no Thai members if any joined they would immediately be accused of being fake by the insecure. Yinn told me all about the problems she had with you.

I found her to be quite pleasant over on the other site , always good natured and easy to get along with .

I really wasn't bothered about her gender or nationality , I cannot understand why some people are so concerned about one posters gender , like who cares ?

Why does it bother them so much ?

The words on the screen were all that mattered to me and that interaction was the scale of our "relationship" and I had no intention of taking it any further (into real life) , so her gender was of no concern to me

I have been a member of this forum for about 15 years and I have seen this forum change. It used to be a vibrant community of expats, now it is just people reacting to news stories, and posting stupid , anonymous emojis.

Yep, I remember the good old ThaiVisa days...

(hope no forum rules have been violated for saying this!)

It would be nice, and beneficial for the forum, if some of us oldtimers here could discuss how to make the place better. I mean some forum where we can say what we actually think.

Her knowledge of what she was really interested in Thai music was impressive, the idea that it was some Australian quickly asking his Mrs the answers and posts in the middle of the night in Australia was laughable. Never seen any forum in 25 years where a Thai woman was accepted, which is odd when you consider thats what most of us are here for. They have always been called liars and fakes. I told before of one on nanaplaza.com where most did not believe she was Thai until she turned up at a woodstock Friday night meeting, then they were all over her of course!

You can, the rules are more relaxed here, just don't get personal in your comments,

I think the last 1/2 hour on this topic has pretty well validated @OneMoreFarang assertion.

I'm stepping away from this thread.  Enjoy the fray ya'll.  🥊🥊

Thanks. That is exactly what I thought when I looked at the last 10 posts or so.

Maybe some people should create a new topic: Yinn is alive.

Then I can ignore that one.

That seems to me Mission Impossible.

There is only a limited number of oldtimes and I am pretty sure it wouldn't be possible to make any money with those limited numbers.

And it would still require some moderation - to keep undesirable people away, etc.

Who wants to spend money and do that?

As I said, her Nationality and Gender were irrelevant to me .

I did like the Y poster on the other forum , whether it be a Thai Female or an Aussie bloke

I used to PM her and I joined in with her P taking  , we used to sit back and laugh at you getting infuriated . 🙂

I did ask her to stop fighting with you , she replied "Why , I love a good fight online" 🙂

I have no problem communicating with a Thai woman or an Australian man.

But I wouldn't communicate with one of the other pretending to be the other.

What's the point of the exchange of words with not existing people.

It's like discussing politics with ChatGPT and trying to convince the AI that you are right. There is no point!

Who ever YOU met is of no concern to me or others, the member Yinn was an Australian bloke having his bit of fun, get over it.

Did you visit his "Yinn's Worm Farm"..............🤣

Lets assume it was a fake, which she was not. How could anyone possibly know it was male and Australian? You don't have to come up with a name just explain that.

IMO ASEAN is just another form of social media, specific to Thailand.

Like all other brands of social media, it has its share of conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers, climate change deniers, and anti-fluoride campaigners.. There are probably flat-earthers if one looks closely.

Dishonest forms of argument abound, and no amount of fact or fact-checking will change their minds. Accordingly threads end up being buried in garbage.

Two members at the same address, the same two members using another address on the other side of an Island, perhaps home and work....

I do not know the tech used, but I was privy to the above......😉

Or choked with brazen, hateful vitriols. One current example:

I'm not calling anyone anything, it's upto you what you choose to believe.

Reminds me of Georgie boy on Seinfeld. It's not a lie if you believe it's true, when Jerry tries to beat the Polly. General rule in society- if you think it's a fact, it's a fact.

I'm on a couple of other hobby related forums in completely different genres to here, the only common factor is the level of engagement and participation has gradually declined as people have moved to other forms of social media. It's amusing to me that the 2 bob wide boy self proclaimed Thai genius/expert that fronts this operation got on the bandwagon just as the whole media landscape was changing for the worse. No wonder it's for sale. 😂👍

Once you have succeeded in banning large numbers of them it is tantamount to killing the goose that lays the golden egg.

This is Dan's problem. How to make the forum look like a vibrant and active place. Hence now more than ever before there are a lot of posters of questionable authenticity trying to rake over the dying embers of a much reduced membership trying to get it to behave like an electric car and burst into flames.

Perhaps banning posters is unnecessary  and just deleting their more offensive posts would be more in keeping with keeping up the number of contributors.

Who is Dan?

If you mean IP address that is meaningless as VPN's give them in another country and it would be impossible to tell the gender and nationality, all you have is a connected IP address, 2 people use one in our house!
