The lawyer would stop that, they'd need to bribe you too

..... Or bribe my wife, she was all up for court action, then mysteriously lost interest.

Also the policeman handling the case died unexpectedly, just before handing the case over to the courts.

Just got the all clear from the doctor this morning.

Last to heal was my collarbone, now fused if a bit lumpy.

Says I don't need any more physiotherapy, arm doesn't have full movement but good enough.

Still some pain in the shoulder, but probably no worse than any other old guys bones and joints.

So total cost for 4 months medical care, 5 broken ribs, broken collarbone, collapsed lung, 3 days in hospital, countless X-rays, meds, 8x physio was just under 13kbht, paid for by government minimum m/c insurance.

It sucks, an accident in jiffy time makes it bad and then you are busy long time to built up again.

Good to hear you are still going forwards. No more physio, but guess you still do some exercises?

Maybe some swimming now if you can? You activate all muscle at once.

Been 4 months now, probably needs longer time, if ever will pass. One thing for sure, at least you are improving!

Small update after 1 year,

Was in court, no expense for me (so far), case brought by the Public prosecutor against my attacker. Charge was listed as "Causing serious bodily harm to another person" (Google translate) posted on the courtroom door.

Didn't really know what was happening as nobody spoke to me and it was all in Thai.

All the talk was between the Judge, Public prosecutor, my attacker and his lawyer.

Need to turn up again in a month or two.

Do a civil case after if compensation isn't high enough

Good to hear some progress on this case BritManToo.  I just read about the drunk guy in a Porche who nailed two kids on a motorcycle in Chiang Mai and that reminded me of you.  Hope thing work out the way you hope.

I have no expectations of any compensation.

The Prosecutor already told us he doesn't deal with compensation and I would need to hire a private lawyer if I wanted that, can't say I'm all that bothered about money.

I'm just happy to have recovered with only minor ongoing injuries, collarbone still hurts off and on, a bit less lung capacity than I had before the accident, and some nasty scars mainly on my right leg. Arm/shoulder is good enough for most day to day living, but I won't be playing golf or swimming much as it hurts to forcefully swing my right arm. The first 8-10 months after the accident was a little hard for me, but generally I'm OK now.

Money compensation is part of the punishment, especially as he tried to kill you. Some lawyers do no win no fee
