See a very good ENT Doctor, he will decide if you have Vertigo or not. If yes, he will give you medication and recommend the exercises to do daily for your recovery.

After, best is to see an Herbalist or get a Chinese's Acupuncture, who will give you the Chinese's medication, that with the exercises will sort you out in two weeks.

Are there any doctors at Khon Kaen University hospital (KKU), that are recommended to diagnose this condition?

Yes.
“Go for a general screening at the general examination room first. After that, the doctor in that room will send you to consult with a specialized doctor in examination room number 8“

Let me know if any further questions, my GF is involved with the examinations.

Thanks.

Is that still the After Hours Clinic or can I book an appointment in the daytime?

I'm booked in for eye examination after 5.30 pm next month, so would like to have examination for vertigo on the same day if possible.

Just trying to rule out a few things with my health.

Go to any ENT specialist. Easy to diagnose and easy to fix. You can even do it yourself. Search some YouTube videos for Epley Maneuver.

There is no evidence long Covid causes Vertigo. Total bull<deleted>. We aren't even sure what long Covid is.

Depends on the cause of vertigo.  Positional vertigo you can do head positioning exercises to help alleviate it.  Some vertigo can be caused from ear infections.

I've had vertigo for a very long time.  When it is severe it is immpossible to function.

What is the duration of your episodes of vertigo? Any accompanying hearing loss? I ask because I have Meniere's, although it has been in remission for almost six years. Short duration vertigo would not be Meniere's.

I have Vertigo that started about 25 years ago.  During that time I had four or five major flare ups.  And a number of mild ones.  I went to different ENT”s in the states .  They gave me medication for the symptoms.  Upon moving back to the states this past March.  An ENT gave me a prescription for the Elpley Manuver. I had it done at a physical therapy center.
Vertigo can be caused by different issues.  I suggest you try to see an ENT that specializes in balance disorders.  Personally I would not  recommend to do the Epley yourself.  The physical therapist was assisting  with the movements.  And during  the treatment I  started feeling very dizzy and nauseated which is not  uncommon

Plenty of videos on YouTube, most can do it on their own

I'm not sure what it is. I thought I may have Parkinson's disease as I seem to have some of  the same symptoms, but can wake up good, do a bit of work around the house or exercise, then I feel horrible. Seems surreal or things don't feel right when I walk or ride my bike then I get all shakey. When I turn my head it's like I see moving shadows in my periferal vision, but it's always changing.

So my latest self diagnosis is eye trouble (eyes have been sore and watering for a couple of months) or hearing ttrouble. I know I have suffered hearing loss this year.

Trying to sort things out.

Then do ask your physician about Meniere's. Meniere's affects people in radically different ways. I see a Meniere's specialist in Bangkok. When it first struck I was seeing him every two weeks. Now, I check in once every three months. There are treatments that may control Meniere's symptoms. But I hope you don't have it.

I recently had excellent results with Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo at Ratchapreuk Hospital in Khon Kaen.

Can you mention the doctor (whoi quite likely is also at Srinagarind KKU)?

It could indeed be many things (and perhaps more than one)

an inner ear disturbance

a neurological problem

An eye problem

Start with the doctor I mentioned and let them refer you to neurologist if they think needed.

If you have not had a recent complete eye examination, suggest you do that at the same time.

Hi and thanks again.

I have the eye appointment locked in and trying to get a hearing appointment around the same time, then will see about the neurology appointment with the Drs you gave me before. :)

I pity uou if you have this condition. i had it for a couple months. my doctor is in a gvt hospital in sattahip. i know this doesnt help you but you CAN find good dr in gvt hospitals and they are much cheaper. as you know prolly you need an ear nose throat dr. diagnosis is easy. they lie you on a table sideways and make you rise quickly watching if your eyes google around.i took medication for 2 months and now it is gone. i use to get it mostly when i got out of bed. terrible condition. i feel for you.

best of luck

Don't know the answer but vertigo can be caused by long COVID, in particular BPPV

Its Interesting you would say that.

I need to look into it more.

After both my wife and me had covid while vacationing Europe, the wife started throwing up and was very dizzy, we went to a number of doctors and none of them could determine the cause. No vertigo, and no ear infection, it lasted a lasted  more than a week and then the wife was fine.

Then a few months later she had a more mild episod here in Thailand. again with non of the doctors being able to determine the cause.

Last summer I also got dizziness and went to my cardiologist thinking that it might be a recurrence of  PVC (Premature ventricular contractions) that i had a couple of years ago and was being treated with medication. but after checking the record of my paced said that I had no episons, and to see an ear specialist, who also could not determine the cause. and 5 days later it went away.

Again last week I had another 5 day episode.

Which is  when I saw this thread I decided to follow it.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I got BPPV day 1 of covid, Epley maneuver can help, helped me a little, now I mostly ignore it, a very small problem. Lots of YouTube videos on how to diagnose and treat

I tried the Epley maneuver with limited success, I think the only benefit it had was a placebo effect since the epley maneuver  is designed to reset the displaced crystals in your ear that cause Vertigo, and since the dizziness was not caused by the displaced crystals in the ear I don't see how it could have a positive affect.

But As I said don't discount the benefits of the placebo effect, so if it makes you feel better...... I  have done them myself,  every time I had the condition, and who knows perhaps it helped and decreased the duration. It certainly did not hurt.

The good news is , or I hope is, that Long covid seems to diminish with time.

It's  no fun laying in bed for 3-5 days. I could not even drive my self, I had to have my wife drive me.

Any way Thank you again,

Not just hearing check, you need to see doctor specializing in vertigo.  See if Prof. Somchai Srirompotong is still there (ENT Department).

I agree most likely placebo effect, it made no sense either, the maneuver moves the crystals back...what stops them moving again...seems to help some people, anyway good luck
