H.L. Mencken nailed it down a long time ago:    "As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day

  • Agree with that. Having said that, I don't see much wrong with what Biden is doing. Looks like the approval is more related to upcoming elections than present performance.

  • That all sounds fine....in an alternate universe.  The names you mentioned, most of America does not know them.  But Biden and Trump?  America knows them.  That's the quandary.  There are many, many l

Biden will not make it to the election and if he does he will lose. He's incompetent and the majority of voters agree.

Check the curve in the attached graph, positive slope, getting worse day by day for your failed leader Biden, He's viewed as incompetent, you may not like it, but facts are facts and they are hard to swallow for some.

No inflation then?

Will you post them if he doesn't improve? He doesn't look as though he's coming back from what ails him. None of us are getting younger.

You are correct.

The best way to fight inflation is to increase taxes, particularly on the wealthy. Increased taxes reduce the deficit.

Your man Trump decreased taxes on the wealthy, which blew up the deficit.

The point of increasing taxes is to reduce spending, so it's a balance between controlling inflation and causing a recession. Reducing taxes allows more spending, thus stimulating the economy, but you knew that, didn't you?

When the deficit is as big as it is, changing taxation is going to do sod all to that.

One thing for certain is Biden's competency will not improve but get worse if that's even possible. He can go lower, and he will.

The Biden crime family will be getting interrogated (under oath) by congressional investigators next month and who knows who caps immunity and sells out the corrupt leader of the family syndicate

It has increased debt annual interest payments to almost $1T now, more than national defense spending, social security, Medicaid.etc. More than doubled since Biden was sworn in.

Here's a list of countries with 'LESS' inflation than the USA

The one big problem with those statistics is that most countries don't compute inflation the way the US does when it comes to housing costs. Measured the way that other nations do, and the US inflation is considerably below what most of the rest of the world including Europe is experiencing

This is from the socialistic  Wall Street Journal

Measure It Differently, and Inflation Is Behind Us

"U.S. core inflation—which excludes volatile food and energy—measured using the standard consumer-price index was 2.6 percentage points higher than the European-style inflation, known as the harmonized index of consumer prices...

The main reason is that Europe’s measure, known as HICP, doesn’t include the imaginary cost of what a homeowner would pay to rent their house, which makes up about a third of the U.S. core CPI...

Exclude something that no one actually pays, and the weight of which in the index is calculated from guesses by homeowners of the rental value of their house, and core inflation is looking basically fine, at just 2.3%.

And since then inflation in the US has declined further.

Lower than other advanced economies. Plenty of countries (ex. UK) would be happy to have only the current U.S. inflation rate.

It did not work like that when Trump made tax cuts for the rich. Companies often used this money to buy back their stock. Not much of it went into the real economy.

Polls are notoriously unreliable this far out.  Heck, even the GOP primary polls 60 days out may prove inaccurate.  It'd be funny as sht if DeSantis were to win Iowa and Haley or Christie wins New Hampshire.  Trump would be out of his mind.

True, and if against Trump he'll have a shot, but let's not pretend an 81 year old slurring his words is the same as Obama in 2011 or Clinton in 95. No way. Job well done Mr Biden now please step aside.

If not Biden, then who?  That's the quandary.  We don't want/need someone who's more able-bodied, younger, smarter, blah blah blah.  We just can't have Trump.  I agree with Mitt Romney.  He'd support anyone--Democrat or Republican--so long as they're not named Trump or Vivek.

A Klobuchar Haley race would be nice. I like what I saw of Dean Philipps but he's likely a bit too light weight when it get's serious.  Gavin Newsom has a good presidential chin and experience despite Californian baggage.

I can't see Biden winning a second term - it feels like it scientifically and statistically doesn't make sense.

If Biden's polls are bad next August, yeah, that would be a real indicator that he's in trouble.

Personally to me the main difference between Biden and trump is (besides experience and morals) is Biden has assembled a crack team and listened to their council trump on the other hand cannot because of his mental illness and lack of morals.thats not to say there isn't many republicans that could provide sound council there is although most seem terrified of their voters

: the system of public works of a country, state, or region
also : the resources (such as personnel, buildings, or equipment) required for an activity

2
: the underlying foundation or basic framework (as of a system or organization)

3
: the permanent installations required for military purposes

Doesn't look like infrastructure to me.

You disregard the massive campaign to prevent Trump building the wall, till so late that Biden was able to cancel it and leave gaps that the illegals are using to cause a problem for the US.

A large steel structure that isn't going anywhere is definitely infrastructure.

Try using the accepted definition of infrastructure.

I, for one hope he sticks it out to the bitter end, as IMO he is the GOP's best hope to win the POTUS, whoever the actual candidate may be.

@thaibeachlovers

Or, given your personal example, join the forum and bless us with his wise comments.

The funny thing is, that however much Biden is over his peak, he's still a better choice than Trump. And would probably make a better forum member than yourself.

If Biden has medical issues, a different candidate for you to hate will emerge.

I didn't hate Bernie ( I wanted him to win ), so you are wrong, yet again. I see a trend developing here.

Are you sure about that? Didn't the polls before the election say Clinton was going to win?

Best to ignore polls and wait for the one that matters.

I only mention them on here as when they were used to say Trump was losing, your side was jumping for joy.

Perhaps you forgot that polls predict the popular vote, and they were correct in 2016.

Polls taken a year before the election have low predictive value.

Polls taken a few days before the election have high predictive value.

Prove me wrong, if you can.

Carry on without me. Far as I'm concerned that's a non starter. A week is a long time in politics, never mind almost a year.

And yet you constantly make predictions about what's to come, regarding many political and geo-pollitical issues.
