In my experience most Thai people will not directly say how they feel about us foreigners.  Instead I asked two young ladies from Myanmar who have been working in LOS for years.  I can have a conversation with these Burmese ladies because they actually speak almost fluent English.  In short this is what they said:

1.  The Thai people they know feel they are superior to people from other ASEAN countries (Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar).

2.  The Thai people they know either fear or feel intimidated by most western foreigners. Most Thai people these girls know would rather not deal with or have contact with western foreigners.

These Burnese girls are curious about western foreigners and want to know more about where we foreigners come from.  This is different from most of the Thai people I have been in contact with. The Burmese girls are pleasant and I really enjoy talking with them.

I'm happy with the results.

Thailand is a closed cult.

You'll never be accepted here.

They tolerate us, (at best), or dislike/hate us.

I never found any warmth or solace here even in the churches..😱😱😱

Stick a fork in it.

these two points mate!!

this is their problem in a nutshell.

They love to feel superior.

But compared to us they are inferior as inferior gets!

We are bigger and better in every way.

Since you're imposing your unasked for comment, allow me retort.

I have a civil service pension and income from real estate investments. The money I earn is inconsequential. Last year I bought six 55-inch monitors for the school, and just yesterday I donated a small but powerful laptop. I teach cuz I love it. Without this gig, I'd most likely be sitting on a bar stool, nursing a half empty beer at 11:00 a.m.

Maybe YOU should find something positive to occupy your time?

There are people who don't like foreigners in every country - the UK is getting better but there is still a lot of hatred/fear here.

I've come across Thai's who appear to look down on me - oddly mainly in the UK.  However, I think a lot depends on who you mix with and where you frequent.  I have many good friends in Thailand and most of them are Thai, some have given me a great deal of help and regard me as family. When I'm in Thailand, most of my time is spent in the company of Thai people and I've always been made very welcome in my area.

I have also experienced the other side, the females that are out to fleece you and the childishly drunken Thai males.  You just can't generalise but in my opinion, if you don't mix, if you sit in a 'farang bar' drinking every day and isolate yourself, you're never going to be regarded as welcome.

The foreigners that I know and others I've met that work in Thailand and socialise with Thai's, get along very well and are respected in the main but you're always going to find the exception.

Oh you're so funny. Hardly surprising that you started this topic - you obviously feel out of place and you probably are.

Strange. I thought you didn't pay any attention.  A word of advice, don't give up the day job - you'll never make it as a comedian.

They are laughing, that’s all that matters.

Whats up with you anyway, misery guts?

I like the way it displays 'such and such are typing' when viewing a topic but can we  add 'such and such are typing furiously...'

Bs topic (which comes around all the time) not worthy of voting, or even commenting for that matter, but here I am. It is likely based on that of a tourist (well you are really) in a tourist area that cannot speak a lick of Thai, have no Thai friends, not interested in the culture etc etc. On that note, Thais think farang like this are numpties, but will generally keep it quiet to save your face because they have a bit of class.
