The Danish Travel Awards 2023 voted Thailand the winner of the category, the first time the award has been bestowed on the kingdom. Nation Thailand reports that the Danish Travel Awards are organised by Travelmedia Nordic, a travel media platform for travel professionals in the Nordic region. The awards have been running for 26 years, recognising outstanding players in the travel industry. This year’s event took place in Copenhagen earlier this month, with more than 500 travel professionals, from the worlds of tourism and aviation, in attendance. The awards were split across 3 categories: airlines and travel, hotels and tourism in Denmark, and foreign tour operators. There is a difference. It never ceases to amaze me that with all the great destination countries in the world. Thailand somehow does well with "awards". Statues will be built, weeping hordes of Thais laying roses at the statues feet. And all different years, including during covid. 2018 and it was France, USA, Germany at #7. TH @ #10, actually more like 12 or more, since a few had multiple destination in the #'d slot. So you either use 2019's #s or 2023's for anything close to accurate. Does voting it as a top destination actually mean people go there, or was the question, 'were would you go ?' How is the voting done ? NO mention of people actually visiting TH or any country ... hmm "OMG, ...
