Haaaaaa....

Is that funny? Videos are the best way to research a city. Better than any guidebook.

Youtube would have told you to visit Siem Reap first not PP.

Why would you skip Siem Reap?

You already bought a visa and a flight there.

It's funny you would go to Cambodia and leave cause PP is not good. Siem Reap is the no 1 reason people go.

are beers really $2.50 now?

if i remember correctly 50 cent draft beers were "the thing", or was that vietnam🤷🏻‍♂️? i can't remember 🤣

unfortunately, most of the drafts in cambodia were flat and barely drinkable. anchor/ankor brands something, i forget 🤷🏻‍♂️

Draft beer is 0.75$ during happy hours and then 1.75$.

Bottled beers are 2.50$

Coffee is 2.50$ as well

You're right. Draft beer is not good here.

Ankor sucks as well.

Cambodia is ok imo.

I don't know if PP sucks as a whole or if it's only that riverside area.

I'll have to investigate.

I know everybody is going to Siem Reap.

That's one of the reasons I don't wanna go.

I feel like it's gonna be like Hoi An in Vietnam.

Well probably better but the same kind of tourist trap.

Up to you. You are there in the country. Id go. People say the temples further from town are less busy and great.

Go for 3 days. If you dont like it leave. If like it stay on.

That normally means no. Up to you.

Ok maybe i try Hanoi.

Not too sure if it’s the case, but beer was cheaper than water. We loved sitting in the squares of Hanoi with a beer of coffee. If you have never been, it’s worth a look-see.

No that's not accurate.

If someone say "I'll think about it" then yes it means no.

BUT

I said "True. I'll think about it."

Difference!

Keep us posted how it goes. Maybe check out Kampot first.

Yeah I know.

I book a 11$ room on Agoda.

Looked decent.

In reality even a rat wouldn't accept to live here. I had to fix an air freshener on the fan to hide the disgusting smell... Well it's supposed to be an aircon but it doesn't really work so it's a fan imo.

... I'm gonna f$cking die here...

You get what you pay for. If you want good quality, you pay. Don't moan about an 11 usd room.

Try Dara Reangsey Hotel in PP. It's half decent, cheap, I stayed there many times. Look at the offered room before check-in and negotiate price at check-in, US$ accepted and preferred. If I remember correctly it's at the corner 13 and 128 st. Maybe $15-20/night with AC depending on length of stay and negotiating skill.

many guys do end up dying there. they are called deathpats. guys that washed up from other areas of asia and ended up in cambodia. usually drug addicted.

i looked at a room for rent in a guesthouse in sihanoukville in the victory hill area. there was blood on the bed, bloody cotton swabs on the pillow and floor. i think it was from drug addicts shooting up in the room.

cambodia is also the place where that lady put poison in my coffee and tried to rob me.

Temples are boring you should know that by now

Not true, could have been good value like in other towns and countries

After The Grand Canyon and The Taj Mahal, Angkor Wat is the biggest bang tourist thing I ever saw.

But you really have to like ruins. Typically, I do not. I was a tad bored at Machu Piku, Petra, and The Roman Forum. I felt no need to see the further afield Khmer ruins this time around, tho I have seen every last one when I was a newer, hungrier tourist. I did Angkor 3 times and that was enough.

My post-covid visit of last year to Angkor, where I wandered thru it without seeing another soul still haunts me in my dreams and is among my best travel memories. If it feels like a forced school trip to you, there's no reason to suffer through it.

Nor is there much need to go north of the capital. Unless you want the eco-lodge experience for 30% off of Thailand prices (Laos does it better for even cheaper). Kampot is just as nice as Battambang, closer, and you can then transit to one of the lovely Thai Islands of the eastern seaboard in half a day.

Deciding via Youtube is very valid. We decided not to try a Khao Soi place based on the look of the fried noodles.

'Can't imagine what in the Battambang video's is so compelling, 90% of the time, YouTubing veto's a place for me rather than makes me want to go.

Exactly and in Vietnam you get a clean modern room for 11-12$.

Not a unsanitary room.

PP riverside sucks big time.

Terrible value for money.

Considering the place is a dump, everything is too expensive. First night there I got robbed, though caught the b’stards. Siem Reap is ok, but PP cannot hold a candle to Bangkok. If I had to, I’d sooner go back home than live in PP. A proper shiithole.

Looks like our quality standards differ a bit.

U dont have to do temples. Go to bars, walk around. Travel is easy. Pick a city try 3n. If happy stay 3n more, if not move one. Its not difficult.

I enjoyed Sukhothai. Nice resorts there. Great restaurant.

The OP needs a gf. Then you can chill anywhere.

Travelling solo gets boring.

With a gf, I wouldn't be able to afford unsanitary accommodation anymore.

Bad idea...

No. Too much. 500THB is 13$

My range is 10 to 12$.

Been many times, always enjoyed it.

Always booked a hotel with a pool right in the middle of the entertainment area.

It's worth the extra money for a morning and afternoon swim every day, and a nice walk down the promenade in the early morning.
