webfact Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 On November 10, 2023, at 4:00 PM, a major multi-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 304, Chachoengsao-Kabin Buri route, near the entrance to Phanom Sarakham Hospital. The incident involved six severely damaged vehicles and resulted in twelve people injured, all of whom were transported to Phanom Sarakham Hospital. The accident was triggered when a bronze Toyota sedan, with the license plate กน-4348 Chachoengsao, attempted a sudden U-turn, cutting across the path of an oncoming pickup truck. This led to a catastrophic pile-up involving five additional vehicles, reported Siam Rath. Picture: Siam Rath Among these were a black Hyundai H1 van, license plate ฮล-8591 Bangkok, and a red pickup truck with stainless steel cages, carrying a large quantity of chicken parts (thighs, wings, breasts), license plate 2ฒร-2884 Bangkok, both of which were found in a mangled state. Additionally, a Chevrolet sedan, grey, license plate กง-4546 Loei, and a bronze Toyota pickup, Pre-Runner model, license plate บบ-9099 Chachoengsao, were among the damaged vehicles. The rear of the Hyundai van was hit by another Toyota pickup, a four-door model in bronze with a logo of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), license plate 2ขฒ-5057 Bangkok. Picture: Siam Rath The accident resulted in 12 casualties, including eight men and four women, mostly suffering from minor injuries. One person, the driver of the initial Toyota sedan, was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be extricated by the Phanom Sarakham volunteer rescue unit. Thankfully, the injuries sustained were not critical. Moreover, the collision also resulted in damage to a pair of street lamps. Picture: Siam Rath According to accounts from those who witnessed the event, the chain reaction of the accident was initiated when the leading sedan made a sudden maneuver to execute a U-turn. This unexpected move forced an ensuing pickup truck to veer off its path, triggering a series of collisions that led to the extensive pile-up. TheFishman1 Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Well, at least they said the guy was making a U-turn that caused the accident otherwise usually tires have great excuses the brakes failed the tire exploded. TIT. 1 1
4MyEgo Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Looks like speed was the factor once again, but no mention of that, where were the police presence, speed cameras, etc etc, plus, no doubt the wet weather played a part which Thai's from my experience tend to pick up speed when it's raining. Fortunately no one has died, yet. 1
Popular Post Xonax Posted November 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2023 U-turn accident again. U-turns are the most dangerous part of the thai roads and there are thousands of them all over the country. 7
Popular Post findlay13 Posted November 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2023 In about that same area a few years ago ,I watched 5 pick up fly past us each about 2 feeet from the one in front.I said that's an accident waiting to happen. Sure enough another couple of miles on , 5 pickup smashed into the back of one another as the first one must have jammed the brakes on for some reason.People dead , dying or mangled.Just another day on Thai roads. 1 2

twizzian Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Instead of braking they always swerve into the adjacent lane to avoid, regardless of other vehicles in that lane. 1 1
mran66 Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Many license plate numbers listed, but not the one completely destroyed. Ghost? 1

Perhaps the driver who swerved into an inner lane, should have been there all the time.. In many recent trips in Isaan, I would estimate that at least 50% of all motorists continually stay in the outer lane of dual carriageways, causing many motorists to "undertake", with many of those that do so, immediately themselves returning to the outside lane, even when the road ahead is totally clear! Thais will rarely, if ever, obey rules, and it necessary to force them to do so, with large fines and vehicle confiscation. That of course needs the police to be present and do their job properly. Sadly it will never happen, and the Thai road carnage will continue ad infinitum! 3 1 1
Popular Post spidermike007 Posted November 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2023 One of the truly tragic aspects of the continued highway carnage is that neither the police nor the highway patrol will patrol the highways. The highway patrol utterly refuses to do their job and patrol the highways. They only show up at the scene of an accident and all the other time they hang out in their little air conditioning offices playing cards or playing with their phones. They adamantly refuse to go out onto the highway and look for reckless drivers, look for drunk drivers, and create some sort of deterrent that most countries have that prevent people from driving like complete maniacs. The roadblocks do absolutely nothing and the deaths continue. 1 3 1
Popular Post Kerryd Posted November 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2023 I see it time and time again. People pull up to a U-turn, they SEE traffic coming but instead of waiting 3-5 seconds for it to pass, they will instead pull out in front of it. So bluudy often. I look in my mirrors and there's no one behind me for 500+ meters, but the person at the U-turn decides to cut in front of me and force me to go wide, rather than have to wait a few seconds. My friends know it happens a lot as well and will signal (lights/horn) if they see someone at a U-turn ahead, because they KNOW there's a good chance that person will try to turn even though we are clearly visible. Very often we have to veer to the far left of the left lane because someone has decided to just start turning in front of us. And all because (normally) they just don't want to wait that couple extra seconds for you to go past. 3

tomazbodner Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 17 minutes ago, itsari said: Does a Asean now reader benifit anything in knowing the registration plate number of a vehicle ? Yes, when buying a used car, you can google plate numbers for those cars that have never been in an accident, and if anything like this comes up, avoid them like plague. Seen some that looked amazing, claimed the same, but a search of plate number found a woman paralysed after a head-on collision with a pickup overtaking a truck and slamming into her. Photos showed that car was completely smashed up in the front but somehow "fixed" to look like new to the point guy who does inspections couldn't find anything wrong with it... And anyway it's the information original articles publish, AN simply copies first few paragraphs, usually. 2
trainman34014 Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 So; it was Chicken all round for dinner in that vacinity that evening !
MangoKorat Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 304 - once stated as the most dangerous road in Thailand. But as is clear form the state of the cars in the photos - its not the road, its the drivers and the speed. This is in a built up area - what speed were they doing to annihilate that Chevvy? Nothing gets better and it never will as long as the police continue doing what they do (very little). 1
Popular Post Sig Posted November 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2023 Ok, here's a breakdown to save you time as you rush out to get your lottery tickets! License plate numbers: 4348 - 8591 - 2884 - 4546 - 9099 - 5057 (The first one perhaps being the best choice, since it's the one that caused the mess.) 12 casualties, 8 men and 4 women = 1284 "a major multi-vehicle (6) accident occurred on Highway 304" = 6304 And two of those numbers end in 84!!! Somebody's gonna hit it big! 3
