snoop1130 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 In a shocking event, a 45 year old fruit vendor tragically lost his life after a gang of loan sharks terrorised and shot him right outside a convenience store. The victim’s girlfriend, 41 year old Saengduen revealed the heartbreaking moments leading up to the event, which happened on the evening of November 14. The storefront of Itthiphol (surname withheld), is located on Sukhumvit Road, right in front of a convenience store entrance on Soi Sukhumvit 109 in the Boonrath 2 Village, Moo 4, Plutaluang District, Chon Buri Province. The loan sharks attacked Itthiphol as he couldn’t afford to pay back 200 baht per day for a 10,000 baht loan. Saengduen explained that due to poor sales, Itthiphol was unable to make the interest payments for about two days, which amounted to 400 baht. She had promised the loan sharks to repay the amount as soon as possible and reassured them that Itthiphol had no intention of fleeing. The attack happened suddenly. A woman from the loan shark gang demanded payment, and a man handed her a gun. The woman shot Itthiphol at close range, and the man even attempted to stab him with a knife. Popular Post Bobthegimp Posted November 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2023 Just tragic. It was a woman who shot him. A man would probably have just roughed him up. Now the loan shark will get zero baht and perhaps a stretch in the monkey house. 5 4 8

connda Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Life is cheap here. Loan-sharks are allowed free rein to engage in predation. Then just shoot the debtor. The killers? Whipped with bamii noodles and sentenced to a sever tongue-lashing. 1

I see so much good from Thai people in my daily life that I need to read the news to remind myself that it isn't Disneyland. Must be the honeymoon phase. 6 2 1

Popular Post neeray Posted November 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2023 Killing the debtor seems akin to the idiom "biting the hand that feeds you" (only a thousand times worse). Now the loan shark can write off the entire debt, while running from the law. 1 2 1

A bit like an insurance policy. Mafia in USA do the same. Not that I condone it. 2

Popular Post spidermike007 Posted November 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2023 Perhaps we need some sort of overhaul to the judicial system in a situation like this where there were likely multiple witnesses. Why should there even be a trial? The death penalty should be applied within 30 days, with no possibility of appeal. A three person judicial panel could pronounce the sentence, perhaps the word would get around, and people would think twice about behaving like such fools. The people who committed these crimes were not human, they were a variety of insect. The world needs less of these parasitical insects. 4 1 3
Popular Post AhFarangJa Posted November 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2023 Any bets on how long it will take before a crackdown on loan sharks is announced. Maybe never as it was only a lowly fruit seller.....no one of any importance like, say, a Chinese tourist for instance. 3

I guess you are okay with being being murdered for 400 baht or less (I know of two cases where 100 was involved) and almost daily murders within families, or being murdered for turning off the wi-fi or looking at someone the wrong way or young kids carrying guns or students attacking and murdering each other, or teachers beating kids often with apparent impunity (two this week so far) and lack of law enforcement. How would you describe that? 1 5
