Thai people are no more racist than most people in the world.

Yes indeed - on a personal level I have never experienced anything like this too.

I have had a few 'dark looks' - but I know that is jealousy over the size of my ........ wallet.

Thais are very 'nationalistic' - not so much racists - they do not 'like' the things some 'Aliens' do.

And if you think they are weird - just remember we are extremely weird to them and often offensive and dirty.

Personal clealiness and appearance is extremely important to Thais - whereas too many of us dress like vagrants.

That is very funny, thank you for bringing a smile to my face. I used to live on Samui, and I would see quite a few guys with hot women, but you're right, on the mainland I don't see that too much. I'm often shocked to see good looking guys that are fairly fit, with old women that are not attractive, but like you say a lot of guys just don't have good taste.

 

I also think this is self-esteem issue, I think some guys just do not think they deserve a good looking woman, or perhaps they are afraid of the attention a pretty woman attracts?

That's up for debate! Most foreigners I see here are with some short dark peasant that Thais blew their beans up then then left as soon as there was a kid.

People,instinctively  don't like people that dont like them

It is true for them and it is true for us. 

If you don't like them they can sense it.  

One reason why many of us don't have a problem , and there are many. is that we genuinely  like the, 

consequently they like us.

Do we have negative interactions? sure we do. In every country there good people and there bad people. But we recognise it for what it is, and we move on without painting everyone with the same  brush.  

The guy was a jerk, he got drunk and acted like a jerk, I have been around many Thais that were drunk, none of then acted that way. Are there some who would? No doubt! But I have seen many westerners making an ass of themselves when drunk also.

I've been at a dinner party at a friend's house, who was in charge of 7 Isarn provinces, and the head police from Mahasarakham, Khon Kaen, Chumpae, Pu Gradeung, Udon.  They were all drunk and the topic of the conversation was how to help police with a drink problem and how to stop farang organized crime in the province .

Happens much more in Aberdeen or Leith. Thai police are similar to the Mob in NY. They are 'made men' and are untouchable. Can you imagine a mobster in NY being told not to smoke by a foreigner!

Drunk police chief: "Do you know who I am?"

Falang: " No. Why? Should I know who you are?"

Drunk police chief: " Bugger, I'm so drunk I can't remember who I am!"

Never had any real issues with Thai males, the odd dirty look.. all my wife’s mates couldn’t give a toss about having a farang boyfriend or Husband. The girls up here don’t bother travelling to Pattaya, Phuket or Bangkok to work the bars. Plus ain’t many farangs in this part of Thailand. 
the police up here have never gave me any hassle personally.

Off topic,

I live in a Thai gated CM community of 250 middle class households.

Only 1 attractive woman in the entire community, so I conclude that Thai guys can't get the good looking girls either, unless as paid escorts. Don't think it's most guys have no taste, more like most guys can't afford a pretty one for more than an hour or two.

 

Back to the OP,

If you look at the video of the incident in the restaurant, only one pretty Thai girl there as well, and she doesn't appear to be with the ranting cop. The ranting cop doesn't have any taste either!
