The case of the missing Viagra tablets

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Just to let everyone know I went to purchase some Viagra tablets from a pharmacy in Hua Hin.

The cost of the tablets was 300 baht. The pharmacy technician put the sealed Viagra box into a small paper packet and handed to me.

No problem you might think, however back in the hotel room I opened the Viagra box to discover there was nothing inside.

I was most surprised, perhaps a mistake was made so I returned to the pharmacy and asked for either a replacement Viagra box or my money back.

Unfortunately the pharmacy personnel were being uncooperative. They did not believe me when I told them the box was empty.

I explained a person must have opened the box as the seal was weak when I first opened it.

They still refused to replace the Viagra and threatened to call the police. So I said go ahead call them.

The bluff didn't work. Instead I left and visited the local police station just around the corner from the pharmacy.

I explained the police officers with the help of an interpreter who was luckily there at the time what had just happened .

They agreed to come with me to the pharmacy to sort out the situation.

So we traveled to the pharmacy 2 minutes away to discuss the situation with pharmacy personnel.

There was a lady and male working there. When I explained what had happened they both (especially the women) argued quite loudly with me that I wasn't telling the truth.

Eventually with the help of the police they replaced the empty pack of Viagra with another pack of Viagra which I opened to see there was 4 Viagra tablets inside.

Then the police took a picture of me taking the pack of Viagra from the lady technician.

Case closed .

For anyone buying Viagra tablets from any pharmacy in Hua Hin, I recommend you check the box contains tablets before purchasing .

Maybe they got away with it many times before, as they would not expect many foreigners would take the matter to the police for 300 baht of Viagra. They called your bluff and lost because you weren't bluffing. Good for you!

In Pattaya, I can buy real Thai-manufactured Sildenafil at 400 baht per pack (4 x 100mg tabs). What did you get? It couldn't be the real Viagra brand at that price.

If you bought a box of Viagra for 300 baht in Thailand you have a bigger problem than a few missing pills.

Personally, I would spit, not swallow.

Now the whole poulation of Hua Hin including the police, the pharmacy staff know that you can't get a boner. Small population and very small minds. Hope you are not a full time resident :sorry:

Once I realized what had happened I thought it was a simple mistake that could be easily rectified when I returned to the pharmacist which was just a 5 minute walkaway.

What got my goat was their ATTITUDE.

There immediate dismissal of what had happened, flipping it over and blaming me and their veiled threat to call the police.

It is a possibility that the pharmacy has done the same things to other foreigners.

The viagra tablets I purchased were called Sidegra.

BTW. The vast majority of porn stars use viagra

Sidegra seems to be the most common brand here in Thailand. 100mg is too strong for me. 50mg is plenty. I buy from proper pharmacies in Bangkok and never had any issue. Guess that the pharmacy in Hua Hin thought they could rip you off. Fair play to you for standing up to them.

If this was a scam and not just a genuine packaging error then good on you Op.

You've paved the way for the shop to think twice before scamming the next person.

The reason many things are so smooth for us here in many cases are because people have stood up, spoken out an objected.

The reason we complain about taxi's not using the meter etc is because people don't stand up and object.

When more people object to the wrongs, we encounter more honest treatment in our daily lives....  some people are unable to accept this and go through life with a 'why bother attitude' forgetting that people have paved the way for many of the things they take for granted.

Its only 300 baht sure...  but if it was a scam, its the principle.

That's exactly what I was paying 400 baht for. Now I'll have to try to get a better deal.

i don't understand. a box with pills should have a certain weight. Soorry man your story is very strange and incomprehensible

The tablets are too light to perceive the difference in weight from an empty box. It's quite strange that you can't comprehend that.

The box and leaflet insert weighs 9 grams. The 4 tablets and foil weigh 4 grams. Are you suggesting the OP should be able to distinguish 13 grams from 9 grams by picking it up in his hands, and that he should have known that the box with tablets should weigh 13 grams and not 9 grams? The OP is a human f***** gram scale LOL

If you shake the empty box, it sounds like there's something in there due to the folded leaflet.

If it was weed, you'd be relying on your eyesight if no gram scale is available. The "Viagra" comes in a sealed box.

you'd be surprised how accurate a stoners hands could be. a few grams short on a half is a big deal. very noticeable.

Had to copy and pasted incomprehensible because you can't spell it.... ???  :giggle:

The idea of yours that the weight of box, with leaflet and tablets is discernibly different from a box without tablets is ridiculous...

No stoner's hand is sensitive enough to determine the difference between 12 and 14 grams.

It's irrelevant anyway because the person purchasing a 13-gram box with tabs doesn't know if it should weigh 13 grams or 9 grams, and even if he did, he wouldn't be able to determine the difference using his hand.

Just now, JensenZ said:

there's some HARD truth to this. :)

I agree.  If this was intentional they were probably thinking he'd be too embarrassed to make a fuss.

I'd like to follow up on this. I ordered new filters for my joints from China. I know. Anyways they arrived yesterday. After I opened them up I picked one up and right away I could feel the difference from the originals I ordered from USA. I can notice a huge difference in the joint now with this new filter. Here's the difference. i feel it when I pick it up and smoke. Filters are same length and outside circumference.

Would not happen to me – I always remove the blister pack and leave the box and leaflet on the counter with them.

Much more discrete - with just a blister pack that fits snugly in your pocket.

Now the BIG question did they work and did you get your money's worth....

I could be wrong about this (the rules recently changed in the uk) but don't you need a prescription for viagra here? If so, and you didn't have one, they were breaking the law by selling it to you?

"The case of the missing Viagra tablets ",  sounds like a modern day

Sherlock Holmes story ....

Most pharmaceuticals here can be obtained by simply showing an empty box of the medication, or a note in writing.

If the drug is not available at a local pharmacy, it's because it is addictive or dangerous, e.g. an opioid.

Then the only resort is a hospital pharmacy, after getting a doctor's prescription.

AFAIK Viagra ( Sidegra ) has always been available over the counter here.
