Let's face it: Without US support, it's "game over" for the Ukraine. After that, the only question remaining is: Will the Russians stop at the Hungarian border or march into the heart of Europe, as the Hungarians will not shoot at any Russians?

Nukes are a insurmountable obstacle to invasion of any NATO border.

Beyond Putin, it may be worthwhile to diversify banking relationships geographically. Not only wars, also restrictions on capital transfer or holding assets such as gold have happened in the past and could happen again.

I  looked into dividing my assets between Switzerland and Singapore. I would never consider Thailand. Unfortunately, the Singapore banks could not offer the same investment opportunities to me. Domiciled in Thailand, considered a country with increased risk from a compliance point of view, it is not easy to maintain offshore banking relationships.

My alternative is now to build up physical gold in Singapore in the longer term.

Actually,  there's another thread right now about Thai banks not letting a guy transfer just 400 grand (baht) of his own money outside the country

That's because he's doing it the wrong way and trying to go against the bank's rules. Many people transfer money abroad from Thai bank accounts every day.

Do you understand the nature of the conflict or the origins of it?

Read about Minsk Accords 1 and 2, then try to ascertain what the origin of this conflict was. Look up Merkel's remarks about how the Accords were negotiated in bad faith by the West to maneuver against Russia.  The information is all out there for those who care enough to seek the truth. The rest, from both sides, is pure propaganda.

The U.S. has been a very nasty nation, right in there with their peg boys, the British.  Canada, my home country, is just as nasty but too weak to do anything more than squawk their approval at whatever the big boys tell them to.

Why not just talking about Swiss watches and Swiss chocolate, instead?

Old stereotypes never die. Rats! The Cockoo clock was not invented in Switzerland but in southern Germany. In their hearts, all Americans are still cowboys.

Inventory list of the German armed forces concerning ammo supplies. Confirmed by Defense Minister, Mister Pretorius.

If Putin is allowed by the obnoxious isolationist US republicans to win in Ukraine, I would bet the house that they won't stop there.

Unfortunately, Europeans have not yet understood that the US is entering a new age of "Isolationism". Even without Donald Trump at the steering wheel, Republicans refuse to be the "Policemen of the world" anymore (and pay for it). Without the "approval" of the Republicans: Nothing goes.
Without the US, Nato is a thoothless tiger.

I would bet the house that 1000+ Russian oligarchs who bank in the Schweiz will not allow him to upset their bank accounts, many still have non-blocked bank accounts there amounting to billions in assets

This is about "Europe" not about Switzerland in particular. It may have escaped you.

At the end of the day, it usually helps if the discussion is reduced to bare facts, replacing subjective "gut-feelings".

- Who has more manpower. The Ukraine or Russia?

- Who can produce their own weaponery, not having to rely on "outside help". The Ukraine or Russia?

Mathematically: 2+2=4. Still.

Generally: Was the Ukraine ever part of "the West"?. No, but part of todays Russia since the 9th century. Cemented by Katharina The Great.

NATO: Without the US, NATO is a toothless tiger. Ever since 1989, European armies have been stripped to the bone. Throwing the wisdom of the old Romans to the wind:

"SI VIS PACEM, PARABELLUM". Unfortunately, this is exactly what we did NOT do.

Stupid fear mongering of somebody who probably did not even finish Swiss Army formation school... your so glorified Russian army had to call in the Wagner group AND empty all prisons AND recruit tens of thousands of new soldiers (those that did not yet flee to Phuket), and still could not make any meaningful progress in the Ukraine war... and you expect them to take on the whole of Nato?

And "easily return money" once in Thailand? Have you ever tried to even pay an invoice from your Thai bank account to Switzerland? That will teach you about "easy"...

Swissie did finish Swiss Army Foundation School. While the Russians (partially) recruited "alternative fighting units" in the beginning, the Ukraine recruited basically all men up to the age of 60. But they mainly recruited "Money from the west" in the Billions of Dollars. Their main defense. But the well is running dry.

Swissie does not glorify Russia or the russian army. But his pocket calculater still says: 2+2=4.

Trump tried to make them adhere to their commitments, so when he went they probably heaved a sigh of relief and went back to ignoring their commitments.

Even so they are better off than NZ which has had it's military gutted to the point that defense is probably a sign in < insert language of invader > saying " we surrender, please be nice to us".

US Support?

Soon, US Power is bound to be stretched very thinly between Asia and Europe.

So, do you think that the US is actually still powerful enough?
