webfact Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Bangkok—At 11:30 PM, on December 16th, 2023, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and relevant agencies conducted a field inspection on the entertainment district in Khao San Road, Bangkok after extending legal nightlife hours to 4 AM. Anutin urged entertainment service providers to strictly comply with the law including the prohibition of selling illicit drugs, carrying firearms, and providing services to minors under 20 years of age. Moreover, the visitors must not drink and drive, and the entertainment owners need to provide hail-riding services to intoxicated people. The overall picture after the inspection was that everything was in order and that the entertainment service providers followed the law under the Thai government policy. The tourists need not worry about the safety of their life and property, said Anutin. Extending entertainment service opening hours would potentially generate more income for locals not directly employed by bars and clubs such as taxi drivers and food vendors as well as increase employment rates. Popular Post TorquayFan Posted December 17, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 17, 2023 "At 11:30 PM, on December 16th, 2023, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and relevant agencies conducted a field inspection . . . " Surely a field inspection at 3-4.30 am in the morning would have been better to see how this change is working, or not ? I doubt that Anutin stayed for 4 hours or more. It's as crazy as going to check on crowd behaviour at a football match, hours before the game begins. MMmmmm 1 1 1

Galong Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 "entertainment owners need to provide hail-riding services to intoxicated people" I don't know if I missed it or not, but is this service at a gouging rate or a discount? Also, how do entertainment owners know if a person is fit to drive or not? What if an owner 'feels' like someone is drunk when they aren't and tries to force them to take a taxi? There seem to be a lot of variables and potential for confusion and abuse. At its root, it seems like a good idea of course.
stoner Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 see he's just an everyday guy walking among the people. thailand needs more grounded leaders like this. anutin crushing it again..... and a sweet shirt to boot.

RandolphGB Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Looks like the bars were told first to clear away all the laughing gas being sold illegally.
anthobkk Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 I was in KSR that day and saw many underaged people (like 14 to 17) mostly from international schools drinking vodka-redbull buckets and smoking weed. I'm pretty sure Anutin saw it too since they were everywhere. 1
