I recovered 2000 THB, but still miss....

In my old topic I wrote about a 5000 THB scam through western union.

I got back 2000 THB but still miss 3000 and the guy promised me to pay back this amount in two weeks. Should I wait or, no matter what, make a report with police or online? Thanks 👍

Pretty amazing you got 2000 back. Well done.   I assume that was through you enquiring with him and him surprisingly replying. I don't think waiting for 2 weeks will hurt your opportunities to do something later - and the police would probably be even less likely to do something given he is somewhat cooperating. So wait I say.

Guess it wouldn't hurt to wait.  He apparently doesn't want anyone looking to close at his affairs ... or simply putting you off, till he can hide his affairs better.  Filing won't get you money any faster.

if true ... then well done.

But how did you contact him?   why would he give 2000 back and not the 5000 ...

I find it strange as no one ever pays deposit via WU.

If what you say is true then I'd just wait a few weeks as you don't really have any choice,  and the police won't do anything for such a small amount.

great job getting the 2000 baht back.

I hope he comes through with the rest as promised.

Why do you need a new topic and don't update the old one?

That's true. I tried to sue a scammer - I got a photo, I got an account number - for 1000 Baht (so called deposit). However, they rolled with their eyes only. Also, it was Sunday.

Forget the 3000, book it under experience🧑‍🎄🎄

The scammer needs 2 weeks to scam someone else, and then pay you back, maybe.

I can recover the rest of your balance 100% guaranteed if you send me 5000 baht.

Having been subjected to your posts you don't seem the most intelligent, he must of seen you coming I guess.

Experienced scammers can easily spot a "fool"

And the saying goes "A  fool and his money are soon parted "

I hope you can learn by experience

So far, strangely enough, I have yet to be scammed...

And...

I have been around for many a year.

Also, I have never scammed anyone.

It's mostly due to my guardian angel, and my paranoia.

IF you had made a police report at the time (as recommended my some and ridiculed by others) you'd have had better leverage to ensure full return with the promise of revoking the report.....

Comments at the time were....   "If you [me] had lived in Thailand for any length of time..." etc etc...

These posters don't know how such reports can give you leverage, also the don't identify that 'repeated reports' (from different complainants about the same person) is likely to trigger action.

Lazy people just commented that you won't get anything - they are being proven wrong now...  follow up, chase up and give yourself leverage with a police report.
