Wood is an electrical insulator.  A wooden walking stick would NOT ground anyone unless it was wet.

A metal walking stick with a plastic or rubber tip will also  insulate anyone from the ground.

Again - he was nto talking about electrical grounding.

OP was looking for a stick to aid in walking in soft ground. A wooden stick was suggested as preferrable to metal in that instance since it will be able to sink a bit into the ground.

In his subsequent post he made it clear that he was referring to the healing effect of Earth's natural electricity. Some people believe it.

Any single footed walking stick will sink into soft ground. Two, three or four footed sticks will sink less  as the same weight is distributed over a larger area

A single large foot of say, 10 cm/sq, is better than three feet that have say 2 cm/sq giving a total area of 6 cm/sq.

Get a forearm crutch. Much stabler that a walking stick and you can use both hands without having to lay it down somewhere.

Because of disability problems been using a walking stick for over 24 years..

If you need one remember if you have a normal stick/cane = you have only 1 hand as the other is holding the stick/cane = nothing but a pain forever falling on the floor

About 6 years ago bought this one https://www.lazada.co.th/products/3-hospro-walking-stick-4-h-ws9321-i2275909994.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.55.4b0027e1d0MTVW

it is perfect for my needs, can let go and it stands there

I do have a older one with has 3 feet but far to wide so never use other than on bad days in the garden,  have a very old walking frame came from the Hospital, never use, as the above 4 feet smaller type suits my needs fine.

There are many different types look to see what is best for you...   normal folding stick with wrist belt ?  normal folding stick with large base ?

just some ideas there are so many

Thank you for responding and the information about the walking stick.

My walking stick also came from Lazada but it only has 3 shorts kegs and feet/ It is however steel and supports me well, though it is at the maximum extension. The hospital one looks good but it seems to be aluminium and I have no idea of its strength, height or weight.

I can make it to the kitchen (about 20 metres away) OK just carrying the stick but there is a step about 6 inches high that is a bit awkward to get up though I can do it. Coming down that bit is more difficult and I have to plant the stick firmly on the ground before I attempt it.

The though of falling over worries me, as my wife is 59, and she is unable to get me up again on her own.

When I walk I use the heel. sole and toe method and step/walk slowly whicj works for me.

No thank you. It looks as though the fore arm crutch has only a single foot and I only need a stick on one side at the moment.
