Your opinion of eradication of dogs

Yes I have used the word "eradication" but it means to finish cull kill the stray dogs in places like Isaan 

 

Obviously I suffer from PTSD from these dog attacks and this morning I'm at the bus stop (Australia) waiting to go to work when I start thinking of the mutts back in Thailand that tried to attack me on the street in Isaan 

 

The bus starts to arrive and I just start thinking of those dogs and I just shout out *Fxck them !!!

 

And people at the bus stop let me on the bus first and I tell them I am shouting at the nasty dogs not them ! 

 

Back in 2017 I went to a remote village with a Thai lady ,I decided to walk by myself to a temple to look at the memorial graves statues 

 

I could hear barking dogs in the distance but never took much notice

 

Soon a whole pack arrived barking mutts with spit hanging off their mouths 

Threatened me with words of threats 

Luckily a monk who what was going on .

Later I'm in the back of a motorcycle trailer in the side seat only to have another passing mutt try to attack me 

Your thoughts on culling of these dogs that are angry

the sooner the better. right now i can hear a pack of them in the distance doing the group wailing thing.

 

nothing good comes from allowing these dogs to continue breeding and spreading disease.

Dog situation all over Thailand is out of hand, not just strays but houses that have 3,4,5 dogs that come charging out when someone walks past the house. There is a huge need for catching and culling these filthy pests but I can't see it coming anytime soon.

Too many dog owners have no clue about their dog's needs.  They give them food and water but little attention otherwise.  In the mubaan where we rented, I used to walk by so many houses with dogs that are starving for attention.  Their owners consider them solely as livestock that alert them when anyone approaches their property.

I would not mind it , if the would start with you. 

I have a simple personality test for people. Anyone who does not  love dogs has something seriously wrong with them  and is to be avoided and kept an eye on. Removal from the gene pool is recommended but a lobotomy is not necessary IMO as one seems to have naturally happened to them during birth. 

 

Is there an uncontrolled dog problem Thailand? sure is, are there better  and more humane solutions other that what the Op is suggesting?

Absolutely! and many other countries have successfully adopt  them.  A nationally comprehensive spay and neuter  program would see immediate reduction, and total elimination of the problem with in a dog generation.

Not unlike the program I suggest for those who don't love dogs

I find it very strange.  When I lived in Thailand, indeed I found many dogs to be a problem.  I had to carry a stick when I went for a morning walk.  They barked continuously and were aggressive and were a real threat to my health!

 

Now I live in Laos and there are many street dogs. But these dogs don't bark and are not aggressive!!

 

Why?

In Pratumnak the alpha males disappeared, dogs were calm and no problem, maybe the authorities got smart eventually and removed the alphas

What kind of rubbish is this? Do you understand that a person can love dogs, but have a problem with strays, or is that beyond your comprehension capacity? The way you are suggesting will not work. For a system like that to work, there must be responsible owners. In Thailand, they believe they take care of a dog by giving it food and maybe a place to sleep. Besides that, they let then run around free in the villages. How do you figure your system would work, when most of the owners who will adopt the dogs also are the ones who will put them back at the streets?

In our village the dogs roam around the school and <deleted> on the playing fields.

There are toddlers at this school and I told the Mrs , it is only a matter of time before a kid gets attacked.

I have a cat problem, or should I say my couch has a cat problem 

We live in Khon Kaen and I don't see a cat problem

I personally witnessed a Thai man die when he tried to drive his motorbike around a soi dog sleeping in the road. He startled the dog, the dog jumped and collided with the bike, the guy fell to the road and broke his neck.

 

But hey - I guess he forgot to put on his amulet that day. Sum num na.

Most dogs are much nicer than people. No you shouldn't harm soi dogs under any circumstances, unless they attack you.

Yes I had a nice dog he was chihuahua, he hated other dogs .

I had to get rid of him unfortunately because I live in a apartment and had to leave him by himself😭

But those Soi dogs in Thailand are not nice ,they are sneaky and angry 😡

No they are not, they might be hungry, but they have been beaten down all their lives and walk away from confrontation. Next time you see one, bend down and pick up a stone and see how fast they flee.

Absolutely agree Stoner,  they are pests, vermin,  and downright dangerous for kids and old people.

 

where is Thai mentality ?

don't they see it as a problem ?     they just wait for the next dog attack victim at the hospital ?

 

are they really so uneducated that they cannot see the dogs are a big problem in Soi's and Villages.

So, the result is that you do not want them to be culled, but instead suggesting a system that is never going to work. Something that directly means you suggest to leave it like is.

The dogs  don't bother us.Almost 20 years in Thailand , other than the occasional barking  i never had a problem 

3-4 a week we go for a 7-10 km bicycle ride, We take the back roads . No traffic to worry about, quiet , and beautiful country.  Plantty of dogs on our way many from surrounding farms, some times the bark at us. but not one of them has ever bothered us. 

Of course it helps that we pay insurance money to the local dog mafia,
