Popular Post webfact Posted February 2 Popular Post Posted February 2 Thai astronomers have unravelled the mysteries of the universe by uncovering 13 low-mass galaxies, each a celestial relic from the dawn of time. The James Webb Space Telescope, their cosmic peephole, allowed them to peer into the very fabric of the early universe. The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) harnessed the power of the James Webb Space Telescope, capturing images that unveiled these minuscule galaxies, each boasting a mass 10 to 100 times less than our own Milky Way. NARIT proudly announced this stellar discovery yesterday, February 1, showcasing its findings in the Astrophysical Journal Letters. These cosmic wonders, originating around 13 billion years ago, provide a rare glimpse into the Epoch of Reionization, an era when the universe was a mere 550 to 700 million years old. Here, the remnants of the Big Bang coalesced into stars and galaxies, birthing these tiny celestial bodies that defy our cosmic understanding. The James Webb Space Telescope, orbiting the Sun 1.5 million kilometres away from Earth, navigated the challenges of capturing these elusive low-mass galaxies, pushing the boundaries of its imaging capabilities. by Puntid Tantivangphaisal Photo courtesy of The Nation Full story: The Thaiger 2024-02-03 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. I completely agree with you, its run down... most of the interactive exhibits were not working... But, the entrance fee's were very low, so its no surprising they are low on funds to keep 'stuff' working... Its still an interesting day trip and fun for the kids... worth taking the little ones for a visit. 4

Not wishing to Thai-bash, but they have 'over egged' their announcements in the past which lends to a certain degree of cynicsim when they make such another self aggrandising grandiose announcement. [Thai astronomers have unravelled the mysteries of the universe] Got to chuckle at that one really... that said, whatever work they are carrying out, good on em... 'stellar stuff' !! 1 2 3

Popular Post eisfeld Posted February 3 Popular Post Posted February 3 I wonder if these news articles are written by an AI. As I understand the procedure members of the various teams that work on such projects, get results simultaneously so as to avoid individual claims. So yes, seems like Thai Press spinning things a bit. 1 1 2
Popular Post sirineou Posted February 3 Popular Post Posted February 3 Something is reported and you all jump to demean it. What is your problem with it? That it happened? that it was done by Thai people? ot that it was reported? What is the problem? The disrespect toward their hosts, shown by some expats living here, and many whose only connection to Thailand is that once got laid in Pattaya is incredible. I wonder what motivates them. 1 4 1 1 3 1

While I agree with sirineou's sentiment that there are elements on this forum that tend to demean anything Thai thats positive, I think you nailed the explanation and reason for some of the responses... certainly mine anyway... ... Its the exaggerated 'over egging it' from a nationalistic perspective that invites ridicule. 2
