webfact
A Thai mother sought help from a social media influencer after her seven year old daughter was allegedly raped by a temple abbot in the central province of Ayutthaya. The mother added that the police ignored the complaint she filed nine months ago. Well-known social media influencer Kannarat “Gun” Pongpaiboonwet accompanied the mother to meet the Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police (RTP), Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn, today, February 6. She filed a complaint at Mueang Ayutthaya Police Station but officers have made no progress after nine months. The mother revealed to the media and Big Joke that her daughter lived with her grandmother in Ayutthaya province during the school holidays since she was five years old. Her grandmother worked for the abbot, so the girl had to go to the temple almost every day. by Petch Petpailin Photo via KomChadLuek Full story: The Thaiger 2024-02-07 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post bbko
According to the victim’s mother, the grandmother managed to capture videos of the abbot raping the girl but was threatened by him into deleting them. Despite this, she retained the evidence and handed it over to Mueang Ayutthaya Police Station. If this is true, this is no abbot (head monk), but a child rapist and needs to be treated like one. 4 3 5

This is called the "No True Scotsman" fallacy. The truth is that monks, even abbots, can be also child rapists. Two things can be true at the same time. Truly and really. Pretending otherwise is to expose more children to assault. 2 3 1

I totally agree with you. I know that we don't have all the information, but how much time did the grandmother spend videoing the alleged rape when she could have/should have stopped it. 8 3
Zack61
Not just a catholic phenomenon. Sickos everywhere. How this is dealt with is now the issue or can it be swept under the rug? 1
Korat Kiwi
Tie him up by his nut sack and give all those that pass by an opportunity to give him a good wallop. Agree and hope the grand mother did stop this a hole during his attack on the child.

Popular Post Sydebolle
Questions: - why did Grannie film the rape rather than going over-the-moon like any other decent grandparent would have done? - when does Thailand implement and execute capital punishment for paedophiles, rapists and drug dealers? - is the officer in charge, who did not move his backside, facing a paid vacation in jail prior to get fired immediately for good? - is the head of police station getting demoted for not having his shop under control? - the PM, apparently in direct control of the police force (not under the interior ministry) should appoint external help to clean up the police force, once and for good; when is this going to happen? - are the men of the cloth being properly screened prior to entering monkhood; too many criminals and run-aways hide behind the semi-divine walls of all those temples these days and give the cleric the "tainted" image - to put it mildly

I guess you have to understand Thai mentality to answer your statement, the Abbott is a big man and her boss so instead of walking up to him and hitting him over the head with a brick she took a video!! 3 2 1

Popular Post spidermike007
This Abbott should be immediately executed, perhaps without a trial since there is video evidence. The community should take matters into their own hands when it comes to the lack of police action, sometimes things have to be met with alternative methods. Major shaming would be a good place to start. Calling out the precinct captain by name. Forget the defamation nonsense. Right is right. 1 1 2 1

Popular Post ross163103
After 30+ years living here and hearing more and more cases like this I'm losing respect for monks. Many cases of this type behavior from them under the cloak of religion. I know all monks are not like this but seems to be more and more each day. Don't take a vow of celibacy if you know you can't do it, I know I couldn't......one of the reasons I'm not a monk. 2 1

Bizarre. She didn't. You made that up. She did it once to obtain EVIDENCE that the abbot still denied as that is what Thais people do, and the police ignored the video evidence as that is what Thai police do. All perfectly normal in this wonderful country. Can't trust monks, can't trust the police, the two bodies that are there to support people. 1 1
