I recently noticed what I think is an anomaly in membership rankings. There are Star Members, Ruby Members, etc. How these rankings are allocated is shrouded in mystery.

 

I am an Advanced Member. Over the years, I have made more than 23,000 posts. The positive responses to those posts are about 14,000 above that.

 

There is another Advanced Member. I can only describe him/her/it as the village idiot. They have made 673 posts, mostly trolling garbage.

 

Not that I care. However, excuse me for thinking the membership ranking system is ridiculous.

The likes are pretty arbitrary. I can easily scoop up 20+ in a day by baiting TrumpTrash till they pathetically physically threaten me.

 

Or I can write a long, informative paragraph about Thai food and get nothing.

 

It's basically bread and circuses without the bread part here.

Ahhhh didummms....you poor wickle fing. You must spend all day on AN?......23000 posts that's roughly 10 posts a day for 8 years every day. For what it's worth, seeing as how you went to the trouble of posting but don't care....I think you should be a super-extra-golden star member for giving up your whole life to AN.

It's probably simple math, something like total posts / positive emoticons. The fix would be total posts x 100 / positive emoticons.

I think that recent discussions where some members made it clear that confused and sad emojis upset them has led to a lot more confused and sad emojis being posted.

I know i post more of them since knowing that they bug some people.

Not sure how the ranking system works. What i do know is that, while my personal details are showing that I've made 4k approx postings, I have in fact made more than double that. Not that it matters...
