He wasn't advocating anything at all, it was a throwaway comment not meant to be taken seriously. Or literally as you say about your own stuff.

hi Bob,    yes .... I did it again ... i've had 5 1/2 bottles already and 'im half cut   !!    just topping up from yesterday.

 

I think a couple more will be enough ..   I get tired now after everyday beer ... and all my aunties and uncles are dead ... I didn't go and see them for 30+ years and i wished i did before they died.  All m family are dead and it's just me ...but we can't do nothing about that. I 'm listening to the Bee Gees and Robin Gibb had a fantastic voice .. so sad they are all dead ...

The doctor can do nothing for you as he was not a psychiatrist. You are schizophrenic Bob. One day you are sober and being thrown out of restaurant and then you claim to be an alcoholic again. The doctor saw right through you.
