Split System Air Conditioner Fan Speeds

Featured Replies

Im hopeful some well informed " brainiac " can answer this

Dr Google cant , and even if he could there would be 4 thousand conflicting answers .

so, i have an airconditioner which has 5 fan speeds

if i have it set to fan speed 3 and i want to lower the fan speed to 2 i have to cycle thru fan speed 4 then fan speed 5  then fan speed 1 and finally get to fan speed 2

Why cannot the makers of air cons allow you to lower the setting  rather than go thru the full blast settings to get to a lower speed

If you can adjust the speed up, why cannot you adjust the speed down .

That would mean more physical buttons on the remote = $$$

If your A/C has a wireless/BlueTooth app you may be able to adjust either way.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

But the real question is, does it make any difference to the cooling capacity?

It does only if the air-conditioning is inverter type.

An up and down button in reality should add little or any to the end cost

It seems crazy even on an 80,000 baht Daikin top end ceiling cassette model

you have no choice but cycle thru every speed just to lower it by one

The following might work:

Hold your remote away from the AC or cover the IR LED with your hand and click a couple of times on the button until you reach the setting before the setting you want.

Then point the remote at the AC and click one more time.

If you are lucky, then your AC will be set to whatever you want with this last click.

My Samsung has one 'button' for fan speed it is a rocker type button, can go up or down to adjust speed. Other 'Options' are 2-step, Fast, comfort, Quiet, d'light cool. :coffee1:

It's cost...get a life.

Auto is the way to go, there should be no need to manually set the fan speed unless you're using it as a fan only.

Never had a one way button a/c remote.  Anyway, we leave the fan speed at the same setting all the time, medium high. Only the temperature setting is adjusted. It’s actually more cost effective to have the fan on high with the higher temperature setting, the fan blows more air over the fins. Low temperature setting and low fan speed uses more energy to cool the living area.
