It's always a risk working without a work permit. Plain and simple. Just takes one disgruntled Thai to spoil your gig. Sadly, nothing ever seems to happen to the Thai businesses that willing hire foreigners without the correct permits. And the beat goes on... #sellerbeware

Krabi Immigration told the Phuket Express that they inspected a night club in the Ao Nang sub-district in Krabi City. They found two foreigners were working at the night club.

 

1.Miss KAREN, 37, British national, was working as an MC.

Mr. Gareth, 45, British national was working as a DJ.

Both of them were unable to present legal work permits.

What about their employers also be charged? Or is there no law that they violate by hiring foreigners without work permits  - and knowingly. Did these foreigners just sneak in to these establishments and begin to work without any Thai employer awareness? 

The various jobs related especially to the entertainment industry are filled by the owners who surely must know requirement that foreigners need work permits. I don't see how recent reported foreigners being arrested for lack of work permits that otherwise require Thai employer pre-approval be able to work without employer knowledge.

Without arresting Thai employers, the work permit system is a scam on foreigners.

Tourists coming to Thailand surely know its illegal to work same those expats living in Thailand should know better

No work permit no job 

It's not difficult or hard to understand the laws

If caught no excuses find or deported

Have to wonder how many Dj's have work permits as they seem to be playing everywhere and it's not as if they can hide as their faces are usually plastered all over the place on advertising signs .

Also what about high profile Dj's that have been booked to play from abroad for 1-2 nights in the country ? Is there a special shirt term visa they get ?

I know a few guys here who are DJ's...      they have other jobs and they DJ for fun....

 

 

Its hardly crime of the century, its not even a 'crime' at all really - arresting such people is pathetic and highlights the juvenile extent Thai authorities will go to.

Ever consider they might have been doing this as bit of fun.? The Thai owner is the real loser, being found to operate an illegal business.

Same here in the UK, Thais visiting on 6 month tourist visas, who are then illegally employed in a 'friend's from my village massage shop', or restaurant while sleeping on site in a private room. 

Mind you, the UK Home Office is a shambles...
