2 foreign women caught stealing from souvenir shop in Krabi

A Thai vendor issued a warning to others after two foreign women stole souvenirs from his shop on Railay Beach in the southern province of Krabi on April 7.

The owner of the souvenir shop, 45 year old Paithun shared CCTV footage of the theft on TikTok to alert other vendors in the area about the two foreign thieves.

In the video, the foreign women were seen browsing various products in the shop. One of them stopped at a shelf of handmade feather hangers and took one to show to her friend.

The woman carried the hanger in her hand and pretended to browse other products before quickly putting it into her fanny pack and leaving the shop.

Another woman grabbed a handmade hair tie, turned her back to the security camera, and immediately walked out of the shop concealing the stolen item.

Paithun told Channel 7 that the theft took place around 1.40pm on Sunday, April 7. The stolen products were worth about 200 baht, and he did not report the theft to the police.

“The souvenirs that they stole were not worth much, so I did not report it to the police. I shared the video on TikTok to alert other vendors in the area. I saw that they did not buy anything from the shop and decided to check the CCTV camera. I think they were planning to steal.”

The incident echoes another theft involving foreigners reported at a cannabis shop in Pattaya in February. In that case, two foreign men were caught on CCTV stealing 1,500 baht worth of ganja from the shop. One of them distracted the shop staff by asking for product details so that another could steal the products.

Another theft was reported in Phuket in March when a Thai man was caught stealing a Thai flag from outside an office in the province. The man was seen pulling the flag from its pole and leaving the scene.

No arrests have been reported for the foreign suspects in these two cases.

OK... these women are scum and I hope they are caught and penalised....

........   but flippin' ek....    how hard is The Thaiger trying to drag out the 'foreigner's are bad' rhetoric....   ??

... at least they tried to balance the scales by mentioning a theft by a Thai... but why mention either - the story is about these two women ripping off some items from a store.

disgraceful behaviour that taints the image of decent foreigners.

thailand needs to draw a line in the sand re antisocial foreign lawbreakers and expel these types.......no ifs and buts.

Sounds bad, even tourists are too poor to buy stuff.

Don't like the content of the news so it's time for the censors, right?

How f#%#%ing stupid is it to risk being arrested for 200B?

Not very hard at all I imagine judging by the behavior of some foreigners.

I think you missed the point... Its not the news thats the issue, no need to censor anything...    Its the 'added rhetoric' that I'm criticising in mentioning another 'bad foreigner' in the same news article...

Perhaps I've been reading too many bad foreigner stories, but it seems this really is flavour of the month (two actually)...  so they had to add an additonal story to drive home the point that 'foreigners are naughty'...    and then perhaps realising that this add on was unnecessary decided to add in a comment about a Thai breaking the law so they 'appear more balanced'...

Its a bit transparent IMO - media sources such as The Thaiger are tripping over themselves to report 'bad foreigner stories'....   I guess its better for add revenue when it generates more traffic....

No where in the original article does it mention bad foreigners. It was you who used that term.

Russians, yes. But PM let them in. Not a few but hordes of criminals. In addition Chinese. In crime statistics Thailand will be soon Number One in Asia. Congrats🙏

Remember, even thieves go on holiday.........:whistling:

These 2 should be apprehended and put on a plane wiv the Portuguese bird to Ukraine.

One might be useful to Ukraine, the other 2 are needed by the Russians..🤗

Everyday occurrence in Ubud Bali, they are either russian or ukrainian and are running the small shops out of business there. They have absolutely no ethics.

Perhaps you are just naturally obtuse...   thats ok, plenty of folk lack the smarts and are a bit too literal....

...... you may be too new here to remember the Immigration Cheifs slogan of 'Good Guy in Bad Guys out'... news such as this feeds off similar rhetoric....

Send them to the front line.

Merchandise worth 200 baht, that's gotta be 5 year prison term for these two losers........

Yes, they should be punished, as all who do something against the law!

But I have the feeling, that at the moment the punishment is not in correspondence with the crime.

At the moment if a foreigner do something against the rules, the punishment is mostly much to harsh.

It's a phenomenon, that newspaper like to print sad, or cruel stories, which are liked by the readers.

At the moment especially Phuket they like to read about foreigners who do something wrong.
Even here you always see a lot of comments, which is good for the website.
