Pattaya — Pattaya police are investigating a violent assault that took place near a sidewalk on Jomtien Beach.

The incident, which took place on an unknown date, was filmed and posted by a Facebook user. The video appears to show six men brutally attacking a young Thai man. One of the attackers, a man wearing a red shirt, also pulled out a handgun and hit the victim in the face five times.

Then, a Thai woman was seen running across the street to try to stop the attack. Several other people, including motorists and tourists, also stopped to watch.

I wondered why the click count was so low...

In the summertime, when the weather is high
You can stretch right up and touch the sky
When the weather's fine
You got women, you got women on your mind
Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find

So, it took a Thai woman to try and help. All others just looked on and filmed.

Opposite are 3 places I've frequented. The coffee shop usually has a number of foreigners enjoying a roadside cappuccino. The 2 restaurants are good Thai and Russian food places though I've not tried the Russian food. However this appears to have happened at night, so maybe the places were closed. Thai style attack. 6 onto 1. But the person filming seems unperturbed. Maybe he/she was directing it.

They don't know when it took place, they don't know if the victim made a police report, they are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence.

People most likely stopped to video rather than help

Asians love to watch violence.

They obviously mistook him for a farang.

Not sure if my translation is correct but the bottom RHS has the Thai word

Not very "beautiful" at all!

Perhaps these police walkabouts need to take place in Jomtien now, just to make the residents and tourists feel safe  as they keep telling us, especially as  these  Thai's like to carry Guns....
