That's a puzzler...  The intervention was 2 days later?

It's a report from one of The Thaiger's ace 'journalists'. What else do you expect.

Getting back to the story, the article is way over dramatic.  Is it really heroism to control a drunk?

Four on one too. So, no. Idiotic journalism.

Yep. I really don't know why this particular English newspapers has to take Thai articles and translate them verbatim (With an unintelligent AI engine), this is what happens. It does show the cringiness and propaganda of the original Thai article though, so there's that.

At the very least he should be deported. Men who abuse women don't stop at one.

This is based on your personal experience?

Why not just deport all farang's, would that make you happy?

Depends on the situation, but if the man put his hands on her and physically coerced her in any way, then he should have been arrested. And that is precisely what this sounds like:

See? Thai cops are not all corrupt as often presented on this site. (The street cops often need endless patience.)

Of course one might take this matter at it's face value, (albeit after stripping away the "Thaiger" loquacious hype) : a slightly built rather soggy female police officer, unarmed except for a small pink water pistol, stepped up rapidly to help a Thai woman who had a distressing encounter with a persistent drunken foreigner during  Khao San Road Songkran party. She defused the situation, rescued the women and the party continued without drama. Persistent drunken foreigner probably woke up next morning and spent the morning looking for the badger which had emptied his wallet, trashed his room and slept with his back legs in his mouth!

Well done to the policewoman, whilst not perhaps medal winning courage she appears to have done her job well, and shown some bottle in stepping up to confront the drunk.

Or of course, we can develop any number of alternative imaginary scenarios, in all of which the aforementioned badger features in the following morning...

Such acts of bravery and service by the female crowd control police officers serve as a reminder of the essential role they play in maintaining peace and security, especially during large public gatherings like the Songkran festival.

The fact that it's big news in Thailand when a few individual members of the police farce could be seen actually doing their job... :whistling:

Some people simply cannot see an attractive Thai woman below 30 without believing that she is available for a casual (paid for) sexual encounter.

Without asking her, how could you know?

no puzzler. It was the reporting that was 2 days later, NOT the intervention. I had to re-read it a couple of times before I realised what the nonce of a reporter was actually trying to say.

Decent people don't approach random women for paid sex unless they work in a designated place for prostitutes.

Obviously the standard of reporting leaves a lot to be desired...

The incident occurred around 11.50pm, two days before the intervention was reported, and could have escalated had it not been for the prompt and decisive action of the female crowd control police officers stationed nearby.

"leaves a lot ......"

What standard, nothing unusual .......

the intervention was reported two days later, was not reported the day that it happened

I'm starting to think all of these bad foreigner Thaiger articles are written by GOAT.....

& before someone chips in, thats not to defend the actions of any person male or female, Foreign or Thai from imposing themselves on anyone else... so Props to the Police for dealing with this...

hey I thought they were taling about @bob smith until i saw that he was a skinny guy.

that the term "foreigner" is used without mentioning his nationality would suggest he is Asian and probably Chinese. If he is why not say Chinese man? If he had been a "farang" we would have been informed which country he was from.....why the special treatment?

Its never a good idea to hit a woman - better to just walk away and leave her if she's playing up. If he is just a bully though then he's likely done it b4 and he needs teaching a lesson.

Everything blown out of all proportion as usual. Maybe the guy just wanted his money back?

"maybe" she was just a normal girl and wasn't for hire & had tried to tell him to go away but he was too drunk to realise or notice? "Maybe" she was his g/f and was acting like she wasn't and attracting as much attention as she possibly could to sate her desires? Maybe........................it was a storm in a t-cup and nothing really happened lol.
