A German tourist, known only as Simoen, found himself in trouble after his Ford Everest SUV was spotted on Ley Phang Beach, Phuket. The Bangkok-registered vehicle was seized by authorities and he was fined 1,000 baht.

 

Local police found the SUV far up the beach, away from the ocean waves. Tyre tracks revealed the car had been on the shore but it was unclear why this unusual parking spot was chosen.

 

A Toyota Corolla GXI was also found at the location, with its front wheels submerged in the sand. The car was later removed from the area but the police did not specify whether any action was taken against it.

 

A construction worker from a nearby site reported that both cars were driven on to the beach the previous night by a Thai man. The Ford was reportedly brought in to help free the Corolla from the sand.

 

A recently extinguished campfire was also found close by, which suggests there may have been a gathering in the area. However, no additional details surrounding this unusual event were provided.

Farangs are not allowed to do a " job " a thai could do  .

That includes helping out others .

If it would have been a thai to drive his car on the beach to help the stuck Corolla , there would have been no fine at all .

1,000 baht. About the same as the charge for an average UK hospital car park......

Well you're right when it comes to illegally driving on the beach. The real moral is don't do illegal stuff like drive on the beach for any reason. Probably attracted police attention with the towing spectacle. And yes, writing at about high school level is the status quo here. 

Can anyone clarify if this is considered parking the beach or not? (a quick street view from Cha Am). Is this legal? 

Should have done the thai thing, blame it on GPS and faulty brakes.

Almost as newsworthy as this from the local newspaper in my old hometown in the UK:- 

"Two teenagers were witnessed throwing eggs at a property on Gote Road. Whilst doing so, they caused some disruption to traffic travelling in and out of Cockermouth, along this route.
