Authorities in Thailand have arrested a local man, Suthat Chuayrod, 27, for an alleged attempted rape and theft at Kheha BTS Station, Samut Prakarn province.

The incident, which occurred yesterday, involved a 30-year-old cosmetic store worker. The victim reported the matter after the assault at Mueang Samut Prakarn Police Station.

According to the victim's account, she noticed Suthat behaving inappropriately at the end of the escalator. The perpetrator subsequently assaulted and attempted to forcibly undress her.

The woman's resistance to the attack led Suthat to hit her repeatedly. He fled when another passenger appeared, but not before taking her handbag and escaping on his parked motorcycle.

The police apprehended Suthat later that day at his residence in Samut Prakarn. At first, he rejected the accusations, but when confronted with irrefutable CCTV evidence, he confessed.

Suthat admitted he had been under the illicit influence of a drug cocktail, including ketamine, crystal meth, heroin, and sleeping pills, purchased from a Bangkok night market. The drugs, he claimed, made him forget his actions.

This alarming event has sparked concern about the safety and drug prevention measures at BTS stations, with no mention of security presence during the incident.

Attempted rape? Assault yes.

Hang on, we couldn't see what her was attempting to do off camera, unless you saw it from a different angle to justify your point?

In the UK it would be assault with intent to rape, if he admitted intent or the circumstances supported it. His actions seemed to do that.

Thailand criminalizes rape and sexual assault similarly to most other countries and increases sentences for offences involving serious injury.

Yes. In her interview she says he was ' helping himself '.

Maybe I'm different, but I paid particular attention to the guy who came up the escalator and probably saw the girl assaulted lying on the floor and the creep running the wrong way down the escalator with her handbag, and did absolutely nothing.

As is often the case because of the ' not my business ' attitude!

Or maybe a placid young man that thought better to stay away from a drug crazed lunatic for someone he doesn't know.

You can see it fairly plain, the actions I mean, at the beginning of the clip.

Maybe. I very much doubt though that he attempted to force sex upon her in daylight at a busy station. You know, with people around and likely to pass by at any moment.

He was already masturbating when she came up the escalator. He pulled her to the floor and was high as a kite on drugs.

The report can't make up its mind if it's assault or attempted rape.

It must have been written by one of Thaiger's red-hot journalists. But now they hide that fact from us.

Quite possible that if you take a cocktail of drugs you end up completely out of it and unable to control yourself.  But it's no defence.

Prevent anyone on drugs from entering the BTS station?  You want security officers on every entrance, stairs, escalators and lifts?  And they need to be testing people to see if they're on drugs?  Could work, but it would cost a lot and make travel almost impossible.  (Where do some people get these ideas?)

World's worst security guard...

That doesn't look like the uniforms worn by BTS station security staff.

It looks more like the uniforms worn by the male ticket counter staff.

No exactly the sharpest tool!

There are few places in Bangkok that are better covered by CCTV than the BTS and MRT stations, then choose to attempt your attack right in front of a camera!!

It's almost as if he wanted to get caught :whistling:

It's almost like he was full of drugs and had no control of his actions.
