. . . I wish TV were still here, just as it once was.

Which TV was that?  You joined in 2021.  The best years were from its inception up until, well, I'm not allowed to say.  It's been 20 years for me and the real good old days, such as Bedlam, were a gas.  That's the TV I loved.  Today?  Without free speech you end up with nothing more than an echo chamber filled with denizens who cannot tolerate views other than their own.  What's the point, then, when free debate is banned?  TT is a return to TV's good old days.

Most nice people moved to the thaiger forum already since years, hence they took aseannow over now too, so it can eventually be merged and killed.

To be honest, it would be less than a day work, to setup a forum using the same software, to have the same forums and subforums, but then with free speech. Or could just use like https://mybb.com/

You would be surprised when visiting ThaigerTalk now.  The only fair and decent Mod is now Head Administrator and he is the ONLY moderator left on the Forum, with Free Speech now being their policy.  None of my post there have been altered or deleted since that radical change now 6 months ago with all TT-moderators leaving or being booted.

Hear, hear.  Only those who cannot stomach views other than their own are the ones who gripe.  Those whose arguments supporting their views fail badly which leaves them frustrated that their "truths" are not blindly accepted by all in a perverted lovefest of groupthink.

I don't really know what Thaiger is, but I have it mentally categorized as something that AI generates fake clickbait articles.

Perfect.  You first admit that you know next to nothing of Thaiger yet despite the ignorance you are still able to promote a false imagined conclusion.  Simply perfect.  Good job!!

AseanNow and ThaigerTalk can peacefully co-exist besides each other (I am a member of both).

It goes without saying that due to its much larger member-size some AseanNow sub-fora on non-controversial subjects are quite interesting (e.g. the Visa-forum) and these are my mean reason to visit and post on AN.

Yes, by all means, stay away!!  You might have your views challenged!!  Just think about how upsetting that would be!!!  Most definitely do not dare go if you are without a safe room filled with comforting, furry, stuffed animals to help you refocus and heal your damaged feelings.

While I was a privileged white child, the world I grew up in was better than now. Kids were safe to play away from home all day, crime was minimal compared to today, I wasn't fearful of being beaten up for being white, and when it came time to get a job I had loads to choose from, without needing a barrow load of qualifications. I left school with no qualifications and still had 3 different careers.

We wanted less, and had a better life for it.

No personal computers, no mobile phones, no amplified noise masquerading as music, and best of all no social media, no twit thing or x as it is now, no facethingy, no fast food, no plastic Maccers, cars looked different, even if they needed more maintenance, and we could maintain them ourselves.

We had people in banks instead of a machine, no one was thinking of getting rid of money and forcing people to use a machine.

But better than all that, greed didn't rule the world.

I'm with you up to your last sentence. It's a generational thing.

But greed has ruled the world since Adam & Eve. It may have been less blatant or obvious in our younger days but it was still there, make no mistake.

To remain in the line of the OP's topic, the value of social media is based on it's numbers and the quantity and amount of posts.

Any public posting forum has no chance of survival if comments are systematically deleted or if there is any form of over moderation.  Obviously, explicit and hate comments or anything against the law has no place in social media whatsoever. But just deleting a comment on pure ideologic grounds or conflict of opinion, will never enable any such platform to grow and develop.

". . . and the quantity and amount of posts."

I believe you meant "quality" rather than "quantity?"  Quantity without quality is, to me, not worth visiting.

An excellent post, mate.   :jap:

No reason for a private company to interact with someone who it has banned, is there?

Ditto.  As long as you don't engage in controversial subjects the rest of the forum is excellent.  Posting in any thread dealing with contentious subject matter I found to be a waste as my time and effort to write a post is for naught when it disappears merely and only because it is contentious.

Some years back, there was some exceptionally heavy-handed moderation on ThaiVisa which resulted in a large number of members migrating to Thaiger. There was even a TV mod who was removed for actively stalking members and handing out ridiculous time-outs because of his personal political beliefs. At that time, I moved to Thaiger and became a mod. I was happy to see the direction it went.

Then the same heavy-handed garbage seeped into Thaiger. I left (as far as I know, I still have an account there but want nothing to do with that site).

And NOW I hear they're joining forces here at AN? Hmmm . . .

But don't worry, they are still 2 different forums, but this one is now owned by Thaiger..😉 ........

Is this the guy who lives in Japan? My last post about music was in Jan then banned, so things must have changed since then! The former mods of course claim they left and were not sacked.

And, maybe their kids will read the same book, someday...

Why not just buy them a copy...and...

Pay them to read it?

But he's no longer with Thaiger.

Edit. At least thank god it wasn't bought by that Door mob.

As of now, the opening post has a whopping 9 negative and only 2 positive reactions. Why such a thread isn't just binned is anyone's guess.

Some things will never change, Thaiger or no Thaiger, pointless drivel remains pointless drivel.
