Some posters are so desperate for an Ukrainian victory that they completely ignore any negative news and events.

On the Kursk front, practically every analyst on both sides have stated that this was a major strategical error. It achieved nothing other than deploying much needed troops who are now stranded and likely to either be killed or captured. This reminds me of a cat playing with a mouse.

On the main front, I’ve seen multiple reports of Russian advancement. However, one would be hard pressed to get this news from western msm. It’s almost as if only one side of the narrative is allowed… As a result, many are uninformed and therefore continues to cling onto the Hope strategy.

All these isolated attacks on ammo depots etc are nothing more than scoring political points. Pin pricks really. Even the Pentagon acknowledges that these have little to no impact on the eventual outcome. But that’s all the Hope(rs) strategy people have.

One poster was delighted with the 7.9 billion new security assistance without realising that this is just a part of the previously approved 61 billion package. Desperate for good news indeed…

That deserves a link to such a desperate claim :cheesy:

I do agree, it was almost a shock to see Channel 4 news actually sending  a reporter to Pokrovsk, and then to report his actual findings that the local population was furious at Zelensky and that the soldiers were scared and not talking victory but blaming Zelensky for weaking the front for a futile Kursk incursion.

Indeed the Russians have advanced, the Ukrainian strongholds of Ukrainsk and Vuledahr have just fallen. Russians are sure to take Pokrovsk very soon. This will give them a number of important advantages.

I also see these depot attacks and blown bridges as mere pin pricks by Ukraine, even the whole Kursk incursion, after all the real reason Ukraine advanced so far there was because there were almost no Russian soldiers, and for a good reason, the area has little strategic importance in the battle for Ukraine.

Regarding all the billions of aid for Ukraine, it is rather useless if Ukraine does not get the hardware and men it needs. All the billions in the world won't stop the Russian army advancing on Pokrovsk apparently. And the fact is the West does not have the materiel to give to Ukraine which it would need to prevail.

The fact that even staunch allies of Ukraine like the president of Czech Republic Mr Pavel, who know a thing or two about military matters, have come out publicly and told the Ukrainians to be sensible and accept negotiations rather than killing their people needlessly tells you all you need to know how it's going on the battlefield. It's going Russia's way.

Putin's imaginary red lines, when nothings going his way, use the tired old red line trick, the one he's been using since the beginning of the war.........ooops Special Military something or other. Then let his minions spread the word for the gullible to swallow hook line and sinker.

Putin knows he will be damned if he is first to use nuclear weapons – Polish President

Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and his generals are well aware that the first to use nuclear weapons will be damned.
Source: Polish President Andrzej Duda, in an interview with TVN24, a Polish 24-hour commercial news channel, reports European Pravda
Details: Duda was commenting on the statement of Vladimir Putin, who on Wednesday evening again threatened to use nuclear weapons if there is any massive attack on Russia.

Trump talking about Ukraine in that link:

“You have a country that has been obliterated, not possible to be rebuilt. It’ll take hundreds of years to rebuild it. There’s not enough money to rebuild it if the whole world got together."

I refer you to the previous comment made by tgw.

Oh dear, what a shame. All the apologists and Putin supporters need yet another narrative now......

As Russia's GDP and inflation figures move in the wrong direction, the worst-case scenario for any economy looms large over Moscow.

Russia's economy is signaling a fate worse than recession
"There are signs of cooling domestic demand. However, there is no reduction in inflationary pressure," Russia's central bank cited in a summary of its latest policy meeting, translated by Bloomberg.
The unfortunate pairing, more often known as stagflation, is something policymakers prefer to avoid at all costs.
It's a scenario harder to thwart than a recession: when an economy slows down, central banks will loosen interest rates to revive activity. But if inflation keeps rising at the same time as a downturn, things quickly become complicated. Since interest rates must stay high to cool price growth, governments are left paralyzed.

Nothing to do with my post just pure desperate deflection from the state of the Russian economy due to sanctions and the illegal war they are carrying out.
