to be fair, Kim anyway didn't want these soldiers to come home where they would tell everyone about how people live in Russia, and even more disturbing for them, in Ukraine. Chances are, even if they survived the war, they would have to remain in exile and communications with their families and friends back home would go through a filter.

It's been reported, though not confirmed, that the North Korean soldiers in Russia have unfettered internet access for the first time in their lives, and have rapidly made full use of it.  By "gorging" on porn.  How fast they learn.  They'll be on to the funny cat videos next.  I can't see any way that Kim will let them come home now.  Though I believe that was the intention all along.

An example of camaraderie in the Russian army, as a Bukhanka van, serving as an ambulance, is chased down by a Ukrainian drone.  The occupants throw out some dead weight, in the form of an injured soldier on a stretcher, to lighten the van, which is then hit by the drone anyway.

Those soldiers have been engaged in a battle of the bulge since gaining free use of the internet, according to a correspondent from the Financial Times.

:clap2: They've been corrupted already. A smart phone with global internet is a pandora's box for them.

Ukraine aid

US funding for Ukraine will almost certainly be at an end in a GOP-controlled House.

Republican hardliners in the chamber have been among the most vociferously opposed to large-scale funding packages for Kyiv.

While Trump has suggested he will be able to broker a swift peace deal with Moscow, whatever the outcome, Republicans are unlikely to continue approving US dollars to defend Ukraine.

The west only listens to what it wants to hear from Moscow - Putin is in no hurry to negotiate the end of conflict in Ukraine

https://archive.ph/cRMe7

I can detect a version of “talking to a mirror” in the west’s approach towards Moscow today. We listen only in order to hear what we want to hear, namely that Putin wants to negotiate the end of the conflict in Ukraine. But does he?

Like many analysts and most Europeans, I believe that the war will conclude in a negotiated settlement. Kyiv will be forced to trade territory for meaningful security guarantees. Yet even if negotiations are inevitable, I am not convinced that we are as close to the end as many others hope.

Trump’s running mate JD Vance has suggested that a Trump administration would aim for Russia and Ukraine to freeze the fighting along the existing front lines, with the line of demarcation becoming “heavily fortified so Russia doesn’t invade again”.
Such a deal would be deeply unpopular among Ukrainian leaders. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly rejected making territorial concessions. But officials in Kyiv fear Trump would cease all military aid, forcing them to capitulate on Moscow’s terms.

Talk about talks - good things are moving in the right direction.

https://archive.ph/FYThG

Kyiv was seeking to resume Qatar-mediated negotiations that came close to agreement in August before being derailed by Ukraine’s invasion of Kursk, said the people, who included senior Ukrainian officials.

“There’s very early talks about potentially restarting something,” said a diplomat briefed on the negotiations. “There’s now talks on the energy facilities.”

An agreement would mark the most significant de-escalation of the war since Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in early 2022.

My intro to the link should have been in italics to highlight the title was his and not my inference. Anyway you lose Ukraine but get Israel with Trump - take the win.

For Ukraine, Trump Victory Signals a Shift. To What, Is Unclear.
As U.S. president, Donald J. Trump will inherit a role as Ukraine’s chief benefactor. But he has been skeptical about continuing aid to Kyiv. NYT

Mobilization in Ukraine, which picked up over the summer with men being pulled from rock concerts or out of cars at roadblocks, has tapered amid deep reluctance to fight in the trenches, military analysts say. Desertion is a mounting problem. From January to September, Ukrainian prosecutors recorded about 51,000 cases of soldiers being away without leave.
Some of the army’s best troops were committed in August to an attack into the Kursk region of Russia in the hopes of diverting Moscow’s soldiers. But Ukraine has since lost about 40 percent of the territory it occupied there, and Moscow did not redeploy troops from the Donbas.

Owen Matthews - Donald Trump’s win marks the beginning of the end of the Ukraine war - THE SPECTATOR

https://archive.ph/Aa6Fa

Donald Trump’s election victory heralds the beginning of the end of the Ukraine war – and is likely to leave Vladimir Putin in control of most, if not all, of the territory he has seized in nearly three years of bloody conflict. To many Ukrainians, such an outcome will be a betrayal of their struggle, a stab in the back by the West that will sow decades of anger and resentment. To others, though, a swift end to the conflict before more land is lost and tens of thousands more young Ukrainians die represents the best hope of actually salvaging a decent future for their country before their infrastructure, economy, and an entire generation are annihilated completely.

Trump's final position will be a statement  to current  US allies and whether or not they  should rely on any US undertakings;

-Taiwan defense against China

-South Korea and  Japan defense against North Korea

-Japan defense against Russia and China

- EU defense against Russia

- Gulf states  defense against Iran and others

-  Australia defense against China

If the US chooses to reduce its  presence, as is its perogative, then it cannot expect to demand control or to retain a leadership position in international affairs.

Wasn't it someone on your side that pointed out that using a communication device allows the enemy to pinpoint the user's location for a drone strike?

I'm calling fake news on that.

Andrew Marr - New Statesman

I spoke this week to Sergei Markov, the former advisor to the Russian president, and well-connected Moscow politics professor, he said he expected Trump almost immediately to call Putin and Zelensky to demand an immediate ceasefire, followed by talks which would recognise the Ukrainian conflict as, essentially, a civil one between Russians rather than independent states.

There will be demands in London for European countries, particularly Britain, to take the lead in fresh military moves to protect Ukraine, urgently sending more long-range missiles and allowing the targeting of Russian sites. But without US support, this becomes incredibly dangerous for Western Europe. Of all the urgent debates coming now, this is the most urgent one of all. There are no good answers. Unless he dramatically changes his mind, a Trump-imposed settlement, giving Putin the eastern third of Ukraine, would surely result in the fall of Zelensky, further Russian advances, and then Russian – and now, North Korean – troops pushing against Nato’s borders.

Everything I read leads me to believe the Koreans are only engaged in Kursk, which is in Russia.

Seems the west's propaganda machine is in full flow with the BS.
