Phuket Envisions Surge in Visits from Vietnamese Tourists

Tourism businesses in Phuket, are expecting an increased number of visitors from Vietnam following a major advertising campaign conducted in Vietnam's two biggest cities.

The president of the Phuket Tourist Association, Thanet Tantipiriyakit, revealed that the island hopes to attract at least 120,000 Vietnamese tourists this year, a significant 50% more than last year's 80,000. Recent promotional activities on May 21 in Ho Chi Minh City and May 23 in Hanoi are predicted to contribute to this increase.

Out of around one million Vietnamese who visited Thailand last year, only a small 8% travelled to Phuket. However, this year, businesses are hoping to increase this figure to at least 12%. The launch of direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Phuket is expected to help achieve this goal.

A representative from the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Ho Chi Minh City office, Supakan Yodchun, noted that tourists from southern Vietnam have high spending power and are attracted by the extensive facilities offered by Phuket. He said, "Phuket appeals to all – from individual tourists and families to those attending meetings or seminars."

Despite a decline by 5.4% in the number of tourists from Vietnam visiting Thailand between January to April this year (290,000 visitors compared to the same timeframe last year), tourism businesses in Phuket remain optimistic. They are hopeful that targeted marketing efforts and improved accessibility to the island will reverse the trend and make Phuket a favorite destination for Vietnamese travelers.

Bob Hope and the other other one

This dept must be a dream job, they pick figures out of the air and state things like we hope to attract, a Superior  in this dept should be asking how, what is the cost, what will they spend and most important follow up next year and see what happened to get a feel if the dept's success or failure
