For what it's worth a good friend with usa passport entered two days ago at bkk airport immigration...he asked the officer when the 60 days stamps go into effect and was told July 15....friend speaks pretty good Thai so no misunderstanding there but officer seemed sure about it....like i said...for what it's worth.

What's that got to do with the DTV?

I don't know if this is an official govt site or what this is .... seems to be talking with authority, but maybe he doesn't know what he's talking about like other sources.

https://dtv.in.th/en

However, it is important to note that the DTV visa does NOT allow 'any' digital nomad to stay in Thailand for five years. It can be used within a five-year period for 180 days, and extended once for another 180 days, with a 10,000 baht filing fee each time.

DTV holders can request to change the type of visa within the country, but this will terminate the DTV.

You can expect the DTV to be available and fully functional by late June or early July 2024.

and you can request an email from this web site when it's finalized ....

June 18th, 2024 Please consider the current announced changes as preliminary and not yet in effect. Government Spokesperson Chai Wacharonke reiterated that the DTV is slated for this month (June), and not July. As soon as everything is finalized, we will be sending a detailed email to those who have requested us to do so.

The root domain suffix .in (India) should give you a clue that it is not an official Thai government website.  It's just a worthless spam site reposting random probably false information.

I don't know what the "IN" indicates

In dtv.in.th, "in" stands for info.

The URL of Thai government domains often ends with "go.th", where "go" stands for government.

It's not a govt site, but at the bottom of the page he has a bunch of links from govt sites, including Thai Embassy Facebook posts (France, Delhi,,).

He seems to be getting his information from govt sources.

But that doesnt mean the govt has made it clear yet.

And the latest post is from June 6th, which is bad news and indicates to me that there will be delays.

But it's legal.

Yeah, same like the stamp from a serious agent in Pattaya. Remember, the Immigration have been stamping it.

How can you say that is illegal? Show me some proof of that.

No the embassy did not specify the requirements.
They haven't even updated the page which lists all visa types available, only the page with fees.

It doesn't explain why they made it good for 5 years instead of just one year if it's a one use multi-entry similar to the current 6 month multi-entry tourist visa.  Nobody needs to get a visa more than one year in advance.

I think a more likely possibility is that it's re-usable every year for up to 5 years (with only one 180day extension in 5 years).  Probably having to pay 10k for each 180 day period because that would be a similar price to the current 6 month multi-entry tourist visa.

maybe the 5 years is for another reason.

let's wait and see.

180 days per year could be interesting, especially if another SE asian country like Vietnam comes out with sth similar.

Are you saying an immigration officer taking a bribe from an agent to bypass immigration requirements for foreigners is not criminal?

Unbelievable how some foreigners are in denial regarding using illegal agents.

sorry, this is somewhat off-topic, but I didnt want to start a new thread.

Safety Wing currently offers Health Insurance for Nomads.

But they are starting something called "Nomad Border Pass". It's a multi-country visa.

https://plumia.org/nbp/

And if you read below, it says "This page contains information for GOVERNMENTS that are interested in becoming Nomad Border Pass members.

In other words, this company is trying to lobby governments to take part in this program.

So that means Thailand can potentially get on board.

But again, sorry, it might be SPAM. As Thailand is not mentioned anywhere, and it might take years for this to take off.

Just to follow up on the previous post.

This Nomad Border Pass is expected to lead to a GLOBAL PASSPORT by 2032.

That means you can live anywhere and everywhere.

Still a long time away .... and it might be a pipe dream? But thats where things might be heading.

No. More. Visa. Runs. Ever. Again!

Lol.

We're not even going to get an EU-style freedom of movement even within ASEAN, don't even dream about the world.

do we still have to do a 90-day report with this DTV visa

I doubt it since this is not for permanent residents.

Nor are any of the other Visas (Elite, any of the Non-IMMs, even LTR is not for permanent residents).

AFAIK, It’s only Thai Citizens, PRs & LTR Visa Holders that don’t need to Report every 90 days, even guys on BOI Smart Visas need to so I’d be very surprised if you didn’t need to do one on a DTV.

Would be nice if you didn’t have to & at the same time they moved everybody’s reporting to 180 days / 1 year or better still only report when you change your address.

I have a question that maybe cant be answered yet but is 180 days possible to split in two entrys? for example 90 days then return home and after 4 months do 90 days , do these types of visas exist in any other place for example get stamp in for DTV or whatever visa and on the way out it stamps showing the remaining days?

Supposedly it's a multi-entry visa, so I'd say yes, you'll be allowed to split whatever time will be allowed in Thailand into multiple visits.

Guys!

Any new updates or rumors I didn't hear yet?

I didn't come to the forum for a while and didn't look at anything, but it still looks like nothing new has evolved around the DTV.
