Pattaya police and Banglamung District officials arrested a beach hawker for illegally selling alcoholic beverages and resisting officials in the early hours of Friday, June 14th.

The operation was carried out at 2:36 AM at Pattaya Beach following a previous incident where Pattaya City officials attempted to apprehend vendors illegally selling alcohol and renting out beach equipment without a license to tourists.

One vendor, a thin man approximately 40-45 years old, became agitated and resisted arrest. He attempted to aggressively retrieve the confiscated items from the officers, causing alarm among tourists witnessing the incident.

Upon hearing of the incident, Banglamung District Chief Mr. Weekit Manarojkit instructed his deputy to go undercover as a tourist to observe the vendor’s behavior at the beach. The deputy observed that the vendor in question was indeed illegally selling alcohol and renting out chairs and umbrellas to beachgoers without a license to do so.

Poor guy just trying to make an honest living, doing no harm to anyone, and I see no beach "CHAIRS" they are just MATS, at least he wasn't begging, robbing, stealing, shooting, or stabbing people for his drug money.

I feel safer already:cheesy:

Ridiculous waste of effort, time & money. How about stopping some real crime for a change

They should give the guy a walkie talkie
let him stand there and make 100 baht a night renting out mats
and tell him, to check in if anything happens during those early hours of the morning

Yes, but nobody gets a cut

Perhaps he hadn't paid someone off to allow him to conduct his business.
