It was possible that he could have pulled that off.

If you say it wasn't possible, you're wrong.

But at the end of the day, he failed, and the optics are too far gone now.

I didn't serve with Ronald Reagan, Ronald Reagan also wasn't a friend of mine. President Biden is no Ronald Reagan.
