At least here it is no problem. Always used previous day.

What they want is a bank book update from same day. (you could have withdrawn the millions overnight )

Not true, being a fixed term deposit my bank book wasn't updated today (it was last updated 6 days ago with monthly interest on the 20th)

Since you bank letter was dated on the same day you applied for the extension, they obviously didn't need bankbook update

You are correct. He needs 2 COR,s For COR the only eg where one original + photocopy is accepted is renewing or applying both car and bike licences at same time.

Rules change, that's the point of my thread to show the current rules, not what people perceive them to be after years of posts 😉

Not seen anyone else say the same in 100s of posts on the 90 day thread. Ok wait until September and see if you get fined

There's just no convincing you is there. You must update passbook same day as bank letter, nope mine was 6 days apart, you must do 90 day report 14 July, nope they gave me a logical 90 date report date 90 days after I just provided them with more details than that of a 90 day report. Be happy they are actually applying common sense

Let us know how it goes Jul/Sep

Just to clarify the 90 day report date, I googled many other forums and all say your first 90 day report is required 90 days after issuance of the first 12 month extension. This is exactly what Jomtien did with me which is why I'm to report 24 Sep after an extension stamp of 26 June (not 14 July which is the last day of my 90 day non-imm O).

That's correct and the last time an extension will trigger a 90 day report.

There are few offices that sync ongoing extensions with a 90 report.  Not common

Agree! When doing your first extension of stay to a Non-Immigrant O Visa, Jomtien will set up your next 90 day report to be 90 days from date of extension application.  Future renewal(s) of your extension will have no relationship to the 90 day address reporting date.  When you do the 90 day report Jomtien gave you, your next report will be 90 days from the date you report which can be from 14 days before to 7 days after the due date.   The fine for late filing can be up to 5000 baht but Jomtien normally fines 2000 baht.

Something else I noticed, every counter where you pay baht had these new "No Gifts Allowed" signs. I wanted to take a photo but didn't think it would be appropriate 😀

Next step of my Jomtien retirement process is to get a Residence Certificate in order to get a licence and buy a car. I'm thinking I need a photo, copy of my Condo Chanote, copy of passport ID page and Visa page, and TM30?

Do I need to have a 90 day report done first as thats not until Sep?  Do I need two for licence and car purchase or can I copy it? Is there a valid until date?

Thanks for any advice

If you are obtaining both car and bike at same time you can get one certificate and photocopy.

However don't tick both box for car also bike as they will issue 2

So if I do tick both box I can get 2, one I can use and copy for car/bike licences and other original I can use to buy car? Or do I need a separate application to buy car?

Yes.

Also here is a cut paste from one guys experience at Jomitien for COR Aug last year below.

Not sure about same day.

Since you own condo obviously no rental contract however some proof of address...eg TM30 etc

"300 me too just last week, Jomtien. 2 photos, tm30, rental contract, passport and copy of passport including details page, page with first visa, latest visa and entry stamp, application form stating reason for application. Same day."

Here is form CW use.

The Pattaya City Expats Club has a webpage listing the documents required and process at Jomtien Immigration Office: https://pcec.club/ResidencyCertificate/

As noted, if being used for both car and motorcycle license, tick only one of those on the request form and you can use it and a photocopy at the Dept of Land Transport Office to obtain both licenses.

However, you will probably need a another original certificate for purchasing a vehicle especially if the transfer is being handled by an auto dealer.  If buying from the owner, the section in the Land Transport Office that handles it is separate from the driving license section and will most likely want an original residence certificate.

Good point and indeed that's exactly what the OP is doing.

One COR (+photocopy) for car and bike.

In addition one COR for car purchase

Getting the initial Non-O 90 day is terrible there - for many, many years - a 15K "fee" for them to follow the rules.

Getting a Marriage-Based extension can also be a nightmare there.

Any idea if they will do the extension for retirement on a Non-B visa.  I had a slightly difficult time changing the reason from work to retirement last year. Thinking about moving to the Jomtien area.  Wondering if they will force me to leave the country to apply for Non-O

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

I would start a new thread on this, as it seems to vary by office.  You would need a recent case of it being allowed/denied, from that office.  There is no legal-reason they cannot give you a new permitted-stay based on a different "Non-Immigrant" reason, but ...

In any case, I would go there and ask them - and if they say, "no," then ask around with the local agents, to find out what it costs to coax them into doing it.

Does anyone know if the Chonburi/Jomtien Immigration has the ability to make an appointment online?

I checked the Main Immigration website and it had every Division but what I believe is the Central Eastern Division

for online appointment application.

FYI, for a Extension of Stay based on Retirement.

Thanks.

There might be an option to make an appointment   but I doubt it makes any difference  just turn up at your convenience.

Thanks for the reply Rob, yes looking for someone with recent experience for sure.  But don't need to change the reason for extension as I did that here last year.  Now I currently am on an retirement extension with a Non-B visa and just looking to make sure I can extend another year there without too much hassle.

Thanks again for the reply,

I made an appointment online about 4 years ago at Jomtien for my Retirement extension but apart from allowing me to go to the front of the queue to get a  queue ticket I still had to wait in turn once inside....my appointment time was worthless.

It maybe different now as you have to queue up outside to get your documents checked before getting a queue ticket to go inside.....

Thanks again for the reply,

If your "Non-B" was just your old/used visa, which you have followed by a 1-year extension based on retirement, then this no longer matters.  You should have no problem getting another retirement extension in Jomtien.  They require nothing other than the official requirements - no reports of "surprises" there, though you will need a current TM-30.  Agent options are available, also.

As I said above, my passbook was updated on 20th June when my interest was paid. Bank letter was issued today 26th of June

There is actually no way for me to have updated my passbook today as my fixed term deposit does not allow top-ups and I'm not withdrawing anything to then lose the interest

I'll skip all the details, but one time I went to KBank to update my bankbook and get the letter for immigration, and the girl at the bank somehow didn't notice that the bank's computer still had the day before's date. So when they updated my bankbook,  it didn't show that day's date. Any, apparently, immigration wanted a copy of the bankbook updated that very day, so I had to go back to the bank and get it fixed.  I spent way too much time going back and forth that day.

Rob,

Thanks for the clarification, that is what I was hoping for.  Will be looking for a new home soon and will always make arrangements with landlord for the TM-30.

Thanks again,

I'm adding to this thread instead of starting a new one, as the issue is related.

@DrJack54 and @Liquorice , your expert insights might come in handy.

A friend of mine has just moved to Thailand and is in the process of opening a bank account and converting his driver's licence.

He has obtained a single certificate of residence and wants to know if that can be used for both the bank account and the driver's licence (i.e. can he give a copy, or show the original and then get it back, either from the bank or the DLT). I told him he likely needs two originals, but am checking nonetheless as not 100% sure.

Thanks in advance!

You are correct. He needs 2 COR,s

For COR the only eg where one original + photocopy is accepted is renewing or applying both car and bike licences at same time.

I think he will need 2 originals in this case as they are 2 separate agencies and keep the originals,

If 2 driving licences car and bike then 1 original and 1 copy should work.
