Yeah, and they kept going even after staff (bravely) separated out the burning trays.

I already charge it in the front garden 'just in case'. No so worried about the house 3.2v lifepo4 battery pack sitting in my kitchen. 2

You are concerned about e-vehicles? They are relatively safe by which I mean they are now all LiFePO4 powered. Thermal runaway starts at about 250oC internal temperature. Power tools on the other hand are NMC powered (NMC is a type of lithium battery) and the thermal runaway temperature is in the region of 170o C How many cordless power tools do you have? We don't know what type of batteries were in the container but power tool batteries are all over the place. No reason for me to own a car in Pattaya. It’s a hindrance. My Vespa takes care of my transportation needs here. However next week I’ll be back home enjoying the California sunshine in my convertible. Gasoline powered! Perth must be getting cooler this time of year. Do you have heat? Suppose you could rent for further journeys. 3 minutes ago, G_Money said: However next week I’ll be back home enjoying the California sunshine in my convertible. Gasoline powered! Thailand is just too hot for a convertible... that said, its also too hot for a motorcycle if we are thinking comfort. 3 minutes ago, G_Money said: Do you have heat? The good thing about power tool batteries is that they are at least (often, always?) protected against physical damage. I am sure I can throw my Bosch power tool batteries against the walls or floor and the battery cells won't be damaged.

Would point out the exploding batteries were sitting in trays in the factory, not being charged and undamaged. 1

Physical damage of that nature rarely causes harm (to the battery). The problem is internal within the battery. If you are interested you might like to Google up "dendrites". They are the enemy but not the only one.

Muhendis
Well done Ben. Perhaps I should clarify that since we are talking of batteries, the dendrites are also battery related.
