The American people weren't buying what the Democrats were peddling, even before the debate. The GOP was ahead on issues like the ecnomy, inflation, the border. Now with the added burden of the intercine war in their party, the Democrats are in a pickle.

They're really ahead on fascism.

Have you looked into Project 2025?

Whitmer is good, but there's also Amy Klobuchar. I agree that it would be better to have Whitmer than Harris, considering that Harris has to carry the baggage of Ukraine & Gaza. How about Cory Booker for the VP slot? Check out his education. He would be an excellent follow on to Whitmer in 8 years, to be hoped.

All good points. Harris brings the black vote to the table, but also Biden administration baggage, but Whitmer brings Michigan and with a Booker VP also the black vote. Also throws the Republican game book out the window . I voted for Biden and contributed money that I could have otherwise used, but he is past his "sell by" date and now has the additional debate debacle baggage to carry. Though he might not have the stamina he certainly has the mental acuity  to do the job , and what he lacks in stamina he makes up in age acquired wisdom, and experience. Unfortunately in order to bring these things to the table he has to be invited to dinner, and the republicans will beat him up so bad  with the mental acuity issue he would be constantly out of balance, fighting the issue instead of discussing the substance  that is his strength, every time he misspeaks, mumbles or loses his train of thought, which I am sure is due to happen, the media will report it, and we will be talking about that instead of the issues. He should had bowed out months ago, should had said, "I did what I said I would do, stabilized the country from this a-hole, and now is time to pass the torch to a new generation to curry on the progress we have made" he could and IMO would   had stayed in the background as the elder statesman. Instead now we have this, that I am afraid would forever place an asterisk next to his name. Which is a shame after the stelar career he had in public service.

Still time to for him to do the right thing and put country over his own ego.

No one is indispensable. It was Charles de Gaulle   who said

" no one is indispensable!  the cemeteries are full of people who once thought were indispensable" yet the world goes on without them, I wish someone would say that to Biden.

I seriously doubt Trump will agree to debating her though as he'll knows he'd get slaughtered.

I'm sure he would debate her. She has never put a coherent sentence together any time I've seen her being interview. You said back to reality at the beginning of that post. You really don't seem to have gotten there yet, reality awaits your return. LOL.

ANY Democrat? Not necessarily. But the two you named, sure.

What those in the so-called "Lucky Country" choose to name their political parties is irrelevant. Mildly interesting, but irrelevant.

My references to Harris are accurate, and important. They are the reasons she was picked as VP. I agree that her skin colour SHOULD be irrelevant when discussing her suitability for office. But sadly, that is not the case. Her pigmentation and the presence of ovaries were key components to her selection as VP. Without them, she would not have been in the running.

Trump was very much convicted. And look where that has gotten us- nowhere. As a political attack, it went flat.  His trial and conviction have been rather controversial, with many astute observers on the left asserting that it was a purely political witch hunt (eg. Alan Dershowitz, Andrew Cuomo). Hardly fans of the Bad Orange Man to be sure.

The Americans have put themselves into a position where they (so far) have to choose between a felon and a vertical corpse. I'll take the former.

The vertical corpse to me is preferable, because at least he will have a competent cabinet. Trump will only have toadies and yes-men, just like Putin, Xi and Kim. It's a common feature of all despots.

In treating any whiff of socialism like leprosy, Americans don't realize how much they have <deleted> themselves. In that respect, the Australian experience is relevant.

Perhaps the ultimate irony is America having one of the most socialist organizations on the planet, the American military.

I have top level private health cover in Australia. It costs me just over $3000 a year, AUD. Hospital care in Australia is free, private insurance lets one jump the queue.

The same health cover in the USA would cost me on average $8500 a year. USD.

We have a system called the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme ( PBS ) in Australia, which subsidizes medications. All Australians are eligible.

About 18 months ago, I was put on a course of medication for one year. Under the PBS, a full year's worth cost me less than $100. AUD.

I am reliably informed the same medication in America would have cost me $84,000. USD

If Trump gets in, the first thing he will do is gut Medicare, to enable tax cuts for his billionaire buddies. As he said in a rare moment of honesty, i don't care about you. I just want your vote.

IMO Americans would have to be as dumb as a can of soup to elect Trump again. They'd be signing up for his version of Soylent Green.

Hilary lost to Trump and so will this woke puppet.

She lost the cursed Electoral College to Trump.  The actual voters preferred her to Trump by 2.8 million votes.  Not a ringing endorsement of Trump by the actual voters.  He, of course, did even worse in 2020, losing by 7 million, and the Electoral College couldn't save him.

Hey, no lie I am reaping the benefits of the markets too!  But for most people, they arent feelin it. They see $4 eggs and are p!ssed off and want someone to blame. And that someone is the President.

If Joe did a good read of the ol' Teleprompter today, good for him.  It's best for the GOP if he stays in the race.

And where is the alternative candidate to replace the sex offender, convicted criminal and serial liar that masquerades as the gop candidate called Trump?

Is he really the best candidate that the republicans can come up with?

You really are flailing about trying to find something worth saying. To hear you, it's like if the GOP can come up with another candidate that they'd rather have than Trump, they could just tell Trump to get lost. It doesn't work like that, but I'm not going to give lessons on how US politics works.

The difference between Trump and Harris is that Trump has millions of supporters and more millions that will likely vote for him because they hate Washington, while Harris failed miserably in the primaries, is unlikable, incompetent, and epitomises Washington. How many people do you think would turn up to hear her in a Trump style rally?

Nevertheless, I certainly don't know what the US political landscape will look like in 4 months, and that is the only poll that counts.

Looking at your comment from another angle, it is odds on Nikki Haley would have wiped the floor with Biden before she abandoned all pretense of integrity.

You seem to be forgetting the fact Trump is still facing sentencing in a couple of months time. Judge Merchan could throw a huge spanner in the works if he opts for a jail term, and given Trump's lack of remorse and multiple counts of contempt of court, the possibility does exist.

I just about fell off my chair laughing when I read that. If your grandfather was as incoherent as Biden without a teleprompter, would you not be concerned for his mental condition?

Anyone that misspeaks, mumbles or loses his train of thought as much as Biden without a teleprompter obviously has a mental challenge.

If people didn't think he was the only one capable of beating Trump would he still be in the W H?

I did what I said I would do, stabilized the country

Seriously, I don't know which parallel universe you live in, but it's pretty apparent the US is not "stabilised". How did "uniting the country" work out, LOL.

I wish someone would say that to Biden.

Having heard a speech he have in the US yesterday, in which he tried to reassure the people that he still had it, I will not be at all surprised to hear that they invoked the 25th amendment, if he doesn't step down voluntarily. IMO every day he continues in office is a loss of respect by unfriendly countries around the world. It must be cheering up Putin, Kim and Xi immensely.

Any jail sentence will be paused until after the election. If Trump wins as America's first fascist dictator he'll make all his legal problems dissapear.

Your belief that a term of incarceration would prevent Trump becoming POTUS is rather quaint. Even supposing that he was sent to prison, he'd be let out to be POTUS. The US is already looking like something out of a Marx Brother's movie, and the idea that foreign dignitaries would have to visit him in jail is :cheesy:

I'm sure they do, but the voters want Trump. Try getting around that, why don't you?

He's doing quite well for a sex offender, convicted criminal and serial liar. How will you get on if after January you wake up every day to president Trump?

Hey mate. Eggs is now $3. Bond yields trending down in line with inflation. Expect rate cut and economy will continue to be good under Biden. Just the right conditions for the election. Get use to the teleprompter and debate and the gaffes, voters have got over all those.

Harris has no experience running Government! Her whole life is about activism the same as Obama , the community activists legend !

A old article from her past campaign as POTUS.She offers hope eternal for the radical wing of Dem cultural Marxist.

She speaks to all the white nose ring , blue hairs who think skin color matters , instead of character.

“Our campaign uniquely spoke to the experiences of Black women and people of color — and their importance to the success and future of this party,” Harris wrote in her letter to supporters”.

Ms. Kamala attended Howard University.

Is that the best she could do?

Yes.

Probably.

So then, what is the problem?

It's basically just an INTELLIGENCE problem.

The SAT is an IQ test, as everybody knows.

Here is Howard Uni's average scores, compared to scores at a decent school, such as the one I went to.

And this is why I will be unable to stomach Kamala, nor should anyone!

Nixon was smart, but Kamala is NOT.

I would rather see the return of Tricky Dick than see that Salad Woman in the White House.

Nobody wants her.

Of this, I am convinced.

The price of eggs depends on where you live.  The markets don't like uncertainty and right now everything looks rather iffy.  While the market is not the economy both are connected.

Both Xi and Trump wish to be Emperor for Life.

Xi and Trump have much in common.

This is why they are such great friends.

They both share common goals.

Putin and Trump are also on the same page.

For similar reasons.

IMO even George Orwell would be surprised by the amount of doublethink going on.

Trump is 78 yo, only 3 years younger than Biden. He has his share of gaffes, confusing Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi etc. etc. In terms of seguing off into topics such as horrible cities and electric boats. He's even more doolally than Biden, yet gets a free pass.

The rational thing to do would be having both candidates tested for cognitive impairment, with professional opinion on their fitness to fulfill the role of President.

Of course, rationality in politics is an oxymoron.
