The future of the Pheu Thai Party and the Shinawatra family is at stake as they strive to avoid repeating past mistakes and potential exile from Thailand.

 

After several political upheavals, Paetongtarn Shinawatra has been elected as Thailand’s 31st prime minister. The political landscape remains unsettled following the Constitutional Court’s ruling to dissolve the Move Forward Party, leading to a rebranding as the People’s Party.

 

Recently, the Constitutional Court ordered Srettha Thavisin to step down as prime minister due to ethical violations, prompting further legal challenges. Srettha faces additional scrutiny from the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), reported Daily News.

 

These developments have led to significant shifts in the government, with Thaksin Shinawatra, the influential figure behind Pheu Thai, calling for a meeting with coalition partners. Thaksin announced the cancellation of the 10,000-baht digital wallet scheme, Pheu Thai’s flagship policy, due to economic concerns.

 

With Paetongtarn now in power, attention shifts to forming a new Cabinet and potential reshuffles within key parties like Palang Pracharath and Ruam Thai Sang Chart. The upcoming policy announcement on August 28th will set the stage for Paetongtarn’s administration.

 

Paetongtarn now faces the challenge of leading the country, guided by her father, Thaksin. The 2026 general election will be crucial, with the newly formed People’s Party emerging as a major competitor.

 

Paetongtarn, now aligned with conservatives, must find a way to counter the “Orange Camp” representing younger voters.

Well, by cancelling the digital wallet, they avoid fallout from a vote-buying scheme, which was their undoing last time.

 

The problem will come when they try to be re-elected.  If they don't launch another vote-buying scheme, will people vote for them based just on their performance and policies?  If they do launch another vote-buying scheme, will people believe them?

Thaksins fall guy for the 10000 baht  voter bribe has been removed.  He is not prepared to take the  risk  of legal action against his daughter that is why he cancelled the payout.

Tony is forgetting that there are many farmers and staunch PTP supporters who were looking forward to the 10K.  These people will also be reminded that PTP has never kept a promise to them.

 

Add to that the way that PTP said it would back and support the MFP and then the way they back stabbed.

 

PTP BJT PPP and the small parties willstillhve their little support areas but they are going to be a lot smaller.

 

I can almost guarantee they will get shut out in BKK and Pats among other large areas.

unfortunately, thais have the memory of a goldfish. they already forgot the failed rice scheme.  did any farmer see a satang of the money after puke thai sold it off at a rebate lately?

Who thinks she is experienced enough for that job? Anybody?

There is only one reason she has that job, and that is her father who pulls the strings.

Now the question is, how good is he at pulling the strings while he is officially not involved? And how many enemies does he have and make on the way?

He should have stopped when many people in Thailand remembered the good things about him and somehow, they didn't remember the bad parts anymore. Now, it will be more and more obvious how greedy and power hungry he is.

For him and his lackeys there is only the way down. It's only a question of time.

How can a convicted criminal have so much power is beyond me only a few days ago honest hardworking MPs of Move Forward Party were banned from any form of politics for 10 years  and none of them with criminal backgrounds.  WHY ?

And if indeed he has canceled the 10K he has screwed everyone who registered for it not a few days ago.
