How stupidity is an existential threat to America

Featured Replies

It may sound like an insensitive statement, but the cold hard truth is that there are a lot of stupid people in the world, and their stupidity presents a constant danger to others. Some of these people are in positions of power, and some of them have been elected to run our country. A far greater number of them do not have positions of power, but they still have the power to vote, and the power to spread their ideas.

If America presumes to lead the world....it doesn't but it pretends to and aims to....then citizens from all vassal countries should be able to vote for federal level congressmen, senators and presidents. Perhaps we could vote only for people who abhor war.

If you believe that you must also believe and agree that US citizens should be allowed to vote in elections in other peoples countries as well.

Perhaps Russia could vote in US elections and the USA could vote in Russian elections. How about if Israel voted in Palestinian elections and Palestinians voted in Israeli elections, or if Iran were allowed to vote in Israeli elections? Would that be OK with you?

Our great leader Vladimir, told us that in America you can only become a candidate in elections if the wise American rich will give the billion dollars to cover expenses. So the wise reach people kindly protect American democracy from fools with electoral rights.

I have long been an advocate of limiting candidates for president to people who have only served in the military, and I would go a step further they must have children that would be of age to serve, and they would have to sign a pledge that their children would be on the front lines if they ever got involved in a war.

How's that for a deterrent? How is that for commitment?

IMO one of the prime causes of stupidity in politics is the skill set brought to it by candidates for office.

Lawyers are 1% of the general US population. They make up 40% of politicians.

Scientists and engineers are 2.5% of the general US population. They are less than 10% of politicians.

I am not saying lawyers are stupid, just the balance of skills needed to run a country is out of kilter.

Most countries bar felons from running for political office. America has gone way beyond stupid into insanity.

Most countries bar 1 year behind bar felons. Trump is not a real felon. Fake Democrat witch hunt.

Harris is a pathetic candidate. Typical moronic lawyer.

Look no further than the media being culpable of dumping down the masses. Relying on what opinions of others to be taken as fact as opposed to understanding historical records and taking in and sifting through as much information from as much sources available to reason with an empirical analysis. Ignorance is often labeled as stupidity, but what it is, is the laziness of not taking the initiative of an individual to do their own homework causing the ignorance. Take the links posted claiming to be facts, most of which are conflated truths to fit a narrative meant to persuade. If an individual really wants to understand a subject, they need to start from the beginning and comprehend all facets that influence the subject and reject outside influences.

Vladimir forgot to tell that in Russia you can only be comrade No1 if you do not fall out of a window, are not poisoned, your plane has no accident and you have deep roots with the KGB and the Oligarchs. That way your Russian dream career from Zero (Taxidriver) to Hero (Comrade No1 and billionaire) will happen.

That you come up with such an idea must mean you are American.

And one of those Americans that I would prefer not to have a vote if you continue to claim to be the unelected, self appointed Police of the World.

Hello! I was referring to American politics. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed today? I hope you evening is better than your morning!

Voters can improve government by voting out the progressives.

The people who run for office these days are on the radical side of the left or right.   We would be better served by randomly selecting people from the phone book.

so basically what you are trying to say is, 'anyone that doesn't agree with how i think about US politics is stupid and a danger to America' IE people that vote or support Trump!

perhaps they should all be rounded up and disposed of, would that be better you think?
